Wow Jed, I've never seen one come off that way before, others may have though. I'm surprised you got it to come off of the tub lip without removing the bellows clamps. Most of them don't have the locking tab washer on the tub nut, I know mine didn't. Here is the best way I found to handle the tub nut. Get yourself some PB Blaster, soak that tub nut with it and leave it alone for a good half day. You will need a 1 1/2 inch slugging wrench that is available from Grainger or you can buy a wrench at Sears and have it cut in the middle so it will be short enough to fit in the tub. You will need to line the tub with rags to keep from hitting it with the hammer that you will use to hit the wrench with. After you get the wrench and soak the nut get yourself a good 1/2 to 1 pound hammer and apply short powerful hits to the wrench and it should come loose, you'll do it easier with someone else holding the tub for you. My guess is the Agitator nut and bellows are all stuck together with rust and crud since it's been on there since untouched since '67 | ||

that grainger slugging wrench
is great. i bought one this summer and it was worth the money. and lots of pb blaster as mentioned above. as for parts i again would check with dave's repair or mark michaels for a possible oil bellows. mark did tell me nite before last that he thought his source might be able to get some more oil bellows. good luck | ||

hey lebron
since weve got the same situation going with both our machines maybe we can share ideas here and get those agitator parts to come apart! isn't it funny how we both had the same thing happen, the same week? probably the guy who had yours stuck something in the holes of the agitator to attempt to hold it from turning when he tried to remove top nut. that's what broke your agitator. i thought of doing that but decided not too after seeing your pics. when i saw entire agitator turning with top nut yet knowing agitator shaft was not turning at all, i knew that something had to give, and in my case it was just the oil bellows! water bellows was already shot. mine simply unscrewed from the agitator shaft with absolutely no damage to the shaft threads or the nut at bottom of agitator. now to figure out how to get the top nut seperated from the agitator and bottom nut. i'm gonna think on this one awhile, not do anything foolish, just look at it and think. also will look at my other ones to see how they assemble, that should give me clues. please fill me in if you get any ideas. if anyone else has any ideas please fill us both in! | ||

hey lebron
i see how it comes apart now. the peice we see when we look up into the bottom of the agitator (that screws onto the shaft itself) is a nipple like peice that the top nut screws into. the trick will be to hold the bottom part of that pipe nipple from turning while at the same time turning the top nut to loosen it. i'm thinkin vice grips here. anyway you see it it won't be a peice of cake! let me try to illustrate with pics. here is the agitator shaft with that nipple screwed onto it. female threads on bottom, male threads on top. this pic is from my wa2N that dissassembled very easily.

i thought my machines had different agitator parts but i'm wrong. now i see why. this peice is stuck on the agitator on the wa2N, it's stayed on the shaft on my other ones. i'm thinkin maybe put a socket on the top nut and hold that socket in a vice. then use a vice grips to attempt to turn the other end (female end) of that pipe nipple and loosen that top nut from it
