Will oil bellows with part number 5305433572 work for my rollermatic?

Do I want water bellows part number 5300638860 or 5305433576... I am assuming it is the latter, but need confirmation

is the frigidaire part no. i have for the oil bellows. it will fit both the 1-8 and rollermatic models.

the water bellows are different, i have bought both this summer from the web and thru mark michaels. on the web i bought from dave's repair. i also bought from larry at modern parts in parma, but i think i got all he had left.

the 1-18 water bellows no. is 638860 and for the rollermatic it's 5433576. they are different in design.

i take it you found a source for bellows?!! hope so! i have not attempted to loosen the top nut on my agitator any more yet, am letting it soak in pb blaster. may try heat, wrapping a peice of aluminum around inside of agitator to keep plastic from being damaged by torch. gonna leave it for a week or so then come back to it. if you come up with any ideas to fix your same problem please let me know.

I think I may have found a source yes. I haven't attempted to get my agitator apart yet. I'll let you know

oil bellows redundant, so???

For a few years the 1-18s were made without the oil bellows as it was thought to be redundant protection. Do I understand that correctly?

If the idea is to keep dribbles from finding their way into the agitator shaft bearing if the water bellows fails, isn't there an alternative or two?

I thought there was a relief port to atmosphere, a drain hole, between the water bellows and the oil bellows....so if the water bellows leaks, the water finds it's way out of there thru the drain hole. with our without the oil bellows it will be draining out..Right?

So, put a sleeve in the place of the oil bellows just high enough and fitting close enough to the agitator shaft to discourage water flow into the bearing. Not perfect but not horribly bad. eh?

2. I know this is silly, but why not use almost any neophrene sleeve material, just let it crinkle instead of bellow? I can't say what fatigue life a sleeve would have, but I bet someone could run a test quick enough. I'm thinking about things like dishwashing glove fingers or balloons, or bellows from machinery...

that's all. just my 2 cents worth.

maybe a balloon or God forbid, even a condom! wouldn't that be fun!

i do know that for a limited time the 1-18's did not have an oil bellows. and if the water bellows is doing it's job no water will be inside of it anyway. if it leaks there will be moisture at least, if it leaks enough then there is a real possibility of water getting into the shaft.

there are places on the web that sell bellows, perhaps a similiar bellows could be found that would fit.

Bellows suppliers

I found a bellows supplier mfg in Dayton, the city where the Frigidaires were designed and mfd.

Columbia engineered rubber inc.
800-227-3539

Look at the link and tell me what do you think.

Perhaps they already have the molds and would do a run for setup costs etc. If we could get enough subscriptions we could have a lot of 50/100 made. The big cost driver is setup costs.

Door seals/boots

I wonder if they could make door boots for some of our older front-loaders? Mmmmmmmmmm...
