Here is another cobbled together video of a very rare Hoover Selectamatic 1100 washing machine from the late 1970s.
This machine uses a combination of a keymatic selector and a mechanical progammer for its programing

Hi Gary

Again another big thank you for posting. So many programmes too, this really was ahead of its time. I wonder how it compared with other machines cost wise.

It's funny how Hoover's become more stable the faster they spin.

Rob

The Selectamatic...

...is a superb machine and oozes charecter, with its glowing green timeline.

Thanks to Mathew for a great weekend.

Below is Gary inspecting the A3114's internals...

smart machine, the rebuild of which is a story to be told one day...

That weekend....

....the Selectamatic gained a running mate.

Rob took Mathew's dog for a walk and stumbled across a second hand shop, just round the corner from Mathew's house.

He couldnt go in, with Harry the dog, so when he arrived back at the house he swapped harry for me and we both went round to have a gander.

Rob's initial interest in the shop, had been sparked by an almond bodyside which turned out to be a fridge.

Hidden in a corner however was a machine that we snapped up for Mathew quick as a flash.

It had been there for a number of months and after a brush up coutesy of me, and excepting rust on the kick strip area of the bodyshell was in great visual condition.

Me and rob carried it back to Mathews place, plonked it on the door step and knocked at the door.

On answering, Gary's look of shock was a treat and he then went and got Mathew and told him to go to the front door.

It is nice finally to be able to have done something for Mathew, the repairer and saviour of many a machine.

Thanks mate.

Here it is....

Only the rust is the real detraction and Mathew, in the fullness of time, will respray the kickstrip area.

Its the D6096 Dryer de Luxe Creaseguard and was the matching dryer to the A3110 Electronic 1100, A3112 Keymatic 1100 and A3114 Selectamatic 1100.

Its rusty down there because, for part of its life, it will have been in this kind of position...

but was then lowered to the ground and did not have its wheels replaced.

Excellent!

Another one near-mythical Hoover saved for posterity! I'd love to hear the story behind it...

Great that another matching set has been found, thanks for posting the video Gary!

Simon Paul Rob Mathew All of you

To have spent a weekend in excellent company and with such fantastic machines has been a real high, the tea pot was never empty and the food just kept coming :-)

The vidoes were a bit of a haphazard affair, Harry Mats dog was interested in everything that was going on, so was often in shot, half way through the Selectamatic video the two lads turned up with the D6096 dryer so there was much chatter and distraction going on...........

Hence the heavily edited and disjointed videos of both machines, as with the 3203 we were all amazed by it and wanting to talk and watch and fiddle about with the machine as we were filming......i have some of the 3203 spin somewhere for some reason i missed the end.............sorry i will try and sort something but I cant be sure.

But yes what a pair of beauties.......so pleased to have seen and watched them

Now really we need the owner Mathew to come on and say something, he is a diamond host and great guy.

So thanks again
Gary

Here is a picture from a Good Housekeeping magazine, courtesy of Mike's collection.

It shows the A3110, with the D6096 and D7014 dishwasher.

Having sifted through many many many vintage magazines, I have never seen a picture or written word about either the A3112 Keymatic or A3114 Selectamatic 1100s.

I can understand a large proportion of advertising being aimed at the A3110 (the standard machine), but fail to get my head round the total ignorance of the A3108, A3112, A3114 and A3166 by the marketing men.

Perplexed!
Paul

Target Prices in Which magazines:

April 1981:

A3166 Automatic 610 - £195
A3108 Electronic 800 - £240
A3110 Electronic 1100 - £270
A3112 Keymatic 1100 - £300
A3114 Selectamatic 1100 - £285
A3140 AS2 1100 - £280!!!!
A3146 Autocare 800 - £210

I have a feeling that the prices for A3112 and A3114 have been transposed and that the Keymatic should show £285 and the Selectamatic £300.
The A3140 also seems rather expensive for what was a more primitive 1100 than the A3110. £260 seems more likely for this machine.

Once the above amendments are made, a common sense increase in prices is produced.

May 1982:

A3112 Keymatic 1100 - £280
A3114 Selectamatic 1100 - £280
A3156 Autocare 1100 - £260
A3172 Electronic 1100 E - £280
A3182 Electron 600 - £190
A3184 Electron 800 - £200
A3186 Electron 800 Dual Spin - £225
A3188 Electron 800 E - £250
A3190 Electron 1100 - £280

With the Keymatic and Selectamatic now deemed non standard in the range, their prices have been reduced to that of the standard 1100s. So, if you wanted an 1100 you should aim to pay £280.
Although, if you are willing to forgo a Half Load option, going for thae A3156 Autocare 1100 will save you £20.

Forgoing the Half Load on the 800 models (A3186 without vs A3188 with) saves you £25.

Quite an expensive option button, that old Half Load!

D7014 dishwasher

Does this machine have a pop-up tower?
Was the machine a 'Crystaljet'?

Hoover dishwashers...

Hi there.

Model D7014 carried on the name of the 'Auto Jet', whilst D7016 was the 'Super Jet'.

The 'CrystalJet' came in with the introduction of the D7114 and D7116, in the electron era.

The D7014 and D7016 actually were the matching dishwashers for the 'New Magic' Hoover washers and dryers of the late 70s (A3058/60/62/64/90 and D6040/42) and boasted the brushed chrome facia, with beading round the edge.

For some reason Hoover didnt see fit to restyle them to match the 'Smoother Hoover' series (A3108/10/12/14 and D6074/96), so they werent really matches at all.

I dont know when they were discontinued and whether there was a period when Hoover didnt sell dishwashers.
I was dragging family members around Norweb in 1982/83 and never saw the D7014/16 and seem to remember the D7114/116 coming in around 1984/85 ish.

Anyways, below is the D7014 Auto Jet...

...and below is the D7016 Super Jet.

Both featured pull on/push off dials!

Smart machines - never seen one in the flesh though.

Were these DW made by Bauknecht for Hoover ??

Just my clue.

- In Italy Sangiorgio, when wasn't Brandt-ed yet, outsourced DW from Bauknecht that had a similar look

- Both washers and driers have dials on right versus the Jets that have the dial on left. Sometimes there weren't Hoover DW

- The Auto Jet looks like Bauknecht GS 315, while the Super Jet looks like the GS 335.

- Also they seem share the same programs with these machines : heavy 65°C , normal 65°C, eco 40°C . Both the Auto and the GS 335 have a button to reduce 65°C -->> 55°C

But something doesn't match with the pic of the open Jet ... older Bauknecht had the same tower system ..... instead the GS 315 and 335 have a sloped upper rack.
I mean the left side is deeper and can accept big plates, while larger plates fit in the right side of lower rack
Middle spray arm receives water from a nozzle in the centre of the 3rd/upper spray arm.

My guess is : these 2 Bauknechts came 4/5 years later than these Jets

To cut a long story short : if my guess is right, late 80s Hoovers look like the DW in this vid ( Bauknecht GS 850)
