Salutations:

First - let me say that this group proves, once and for all, there is a place for everyone on the internet. Thought my interest in major appliances was unique (appearently not) and that I was alone in being ticked off at the cheapo quality (not price) of the current machines.

So - as we've burned the board on our otherwise perfect 5 year old Maytag .. and they don't sell the part any more .. It's back to the future for us.

Locally, I'm looking at what appears to be a mid-80's "Whisper Quiet" Superba (7 button, no dial).

Was wondering if it is possible to replace the upper control panel glass with some other colour .. Or indeed, am I going to find that it's simply a pull out colour card like the door panels and I simply have to change the card.

Cheers and best wishes - thanks for putting up this forum.

KD21 arrives.

Appreciate the help - but don't knock yourself out looking for a circuit board.

We've just aquired and are installing a KD21AC in near perfect condition. Turns out the photo wasn't quite right - the control panel is black as well.

Looking forward to giving the old girk a bit a stick truth be told. Photos to come.

Cheers and best wishes.

Jon

News you can use...

The control board part number subs to a 99002824. Our supplier has a bunch of them and they retail for around $160. I'm sure you can find it cheaper on line. I'll bet it was a blue capacitor that burned off the board in the section that controls motor function, right? Common issue...
