I am looking for some pics of the dryers noted - ours showed up somewhere in that time frame, it was a pretty basic one, with a temp knob, ( low, med, & high..) & a funny clear plastical timer knob, with a red pointer on it- ( the knob would come off the shaft pretty easily, as I would always remove it ) As I recall, the dryer itself had a very rhythmic vibration kind of noise, till a belt broke in it, & when it was fixed, it was a VERY quiet dryer- ( Blower belt..?)
Thanks! Robert

lighted console?

Ours was loaded with chrome and had a lighted console. Loved that set. The washer had the chrome lint filter with glass in the middle, you could watch the water swirl through. I will find one, someday...

this? Ours is an Imperial. I think this type of dial 'theme' was used for several years; maybe one of our experts will help clarify for you :)

Blower should be heard

In a WP dryer with the belt-driven blower, the fan is well heard. Listen carefully; when you turn the dryer on, it starts quietly, but during the first 3 to 5 seconds, you'll hear the blower wind up like a "baritone" siren, then keep that pitch. Shut the dryer off, then it dies like a siren. Better yet, take out the lint filter, then you can hear it better, and feel the air force. Then you can tell if the fan works.

That is SOOO close

Ours didn't have the push buttons, though. Two selectors like the speed selector. The timer is identical, I think.

I can't be certain from the picture, but I believe in the early '60's we had the matching washer to that dryer. It was the Whirlpool Mark X.

the picture-

That picture is close, but the model we had was pretty basic, & the timer knob was clear plastic, with just the red pointer on it- so I think ours was an earlier version of that picture- the noise it made was so loud, even with a full box of detergent on the lint trap door would not keep it from vibrating & rumbling!

Rumbling

I think that rumbling sound is due to worn bearings. I've known a few old belt and pulley dryers that made excessive rumbling noise.
