Today I was washing 3 pillows and some items. The washing machine was on its 2nd rinse cycle. The machine completed the first one ok and did 3 x spin rinses which was activated by the absorbant items in the machine. The went onto its 2nd rinse cycle and the machine was about to do a spin rinse as the load had trigerred the spin rinse sequence (to those who know how this works) the machine stops the jet (like normal) and was about to switch it back on but the machine just froze and didnt do anything. I pressed the start/pause button and again but the machine did nothing. I was worried as the door could not be opened. I turned the dial to off and selected another program, the machine responded, so I had to select the rinse cycle to complete the rinse and spin of the items in the machine.

Is this a slight software confusion which can happen? or is it the start of a problem as I know the machine is run by software but this has never happened before.

The machine now now working fine so dont know what that was all about.

I guess it´s pretty normal for those new AEG washers. As you might know, I have one myself and I´m having problems like that kinda often. Last time, when I´ve been washing 2 microfibre blankets that soaked a lot of water, I had a problem with it as well. After the first spin burst right after the mainwash, the drum slowed down, the machine kept on draining and then..most of the LEDs went off, the machine stopped doing anything, except for draining and counting down the minutes on the display. Then, when 1 minute was remaining, the display wouldn´t turn into "0" and the machine wouldn´t turn off either.
After that, I started the machine twice again, having the same problem as before.
Doing another load, the machine worked fine again.

But I have to admit that I´m pissed off of that washer, because it´s so stupid. It never senses the load before filling the drum with water. If there´s nothing in the drum, the machine will let in the same amount of water like when washing a full load of towels. The rinse+ options are useless as the machine will not do intermspins or only at low spin speed. Furthermore, the programs are whether way too long or too short or the spin speed is too low.
Apart from that, I have to mention that washing results are excellent and rinsing is okay as well - except for huge loads of towels. And it´s reliable too and a real workhorse, I have mine for 5 years and it´s doing 2 x more loads than in an average household.
