Hotpoint!!!

Our local Hotpoint dealer has a 55 Range in..STAINLESS..now how many of those have you seen,we had a 55 for years and years at home, both ovens baked perfectly, and the griddle was wonderful, wish I still had it,Hotpoints only fault was , as well as G.E.,the oven doors were notorious for getting out of adjustment and not sealing well, but overall a fine product,my family got a lot of use out of ours.

i would have driven back for that wringer once i discovered how much fun washing with a wringer washer is!

i don't think any of those stoves are walt's daily drivers. we were in his shop that day, although they do work! i love thse lighted controls! so classy!

my aunt that raised me would have killed for that stove!

when she married my uncle she told hiom to forget the wedding ring and buy her a stove instead, he did!

Post# 389910 , Reply# 61   10/31/2009 at 22:28 (5,261 days old) by 70series ( Connecticut.)

Oh my God! That certer dial Kenmore in Post 389890 is a 1970 Model 500, and the exact one my aunt had. The only differences were hers had the gold colored filter, and the agitator in hers was a str8 vane with the gold cap like the one pictured in the wringer washer above. The agitator in the 500 pictured here must have been a replacement since Rotoswirls were not offered in the 1970 models of this series. In addition I am pretty sure the scrubbers were gone by then too.

I know I've said this before but this was a very popular model which I had seen in quite a few homes, and one that inspired my love of Kenmores.

Have a good one,
James

i'm out of room. my house is full of washers and dishwashers, not counting the porch. your whirlpool front loader is ready to go, gave a maytag top loader i bought 6 years ago to a friend at work. have another friend who will take my 6 year old dryer that i never liked.

now that i have a good collection of vintage it's time to get rid of the new.

"out with the new, in with the old" i say!

not sure if those were 30 inch stoves, i think they were wider. if walt checks in here he can answer that.

70 series, glad you love those washers, walt might have something to let go, not sure, his name is 18millst on the site if you want his e mail.

Hotpint range size..

All Hotpoints until 57 or 58 were 39 inch,Our local Hotpoint dealer has a 55 model in STAINLESS!!!!on his showroom floor,I grew up with a 55 model 2oven lighted pushbutton, someone wanted to know what supermatic was, that was Hotpoints name for a thermostatic unit...similar to Frigidaires Heat Minder.

The eastern suburbs of Buffalo are wealthy, Amherst (lowest murder rate in the US) and Clarence, then the towns start: Akron, followed by the great canal ports: Gasport, Middleport, and Lockport.

When I visited Walt, I knew at once that his was an Aworg dream if not an orgy, especially for the Sandbox forum where we hear about stoves stereos, records, motors, lamps, small appliances, doodads, figurines, you name it--Walt's got it, especially in his well-kept, best-stuff antique room. Rollermatic's great pix do it justice. Thanks for so many exotic pics.

But--God!!--the machines he's got, and the parts. I searched high and low all over the US for a control board for the Visimatic--and there it was at 18 Mill St., basically in my own back yard. Thank You, Walt. Keep getting more cool stuff and you'll never go wrong doing business at Aworg.

Hotpoint Range

gadgetgary's profile picture
Had a similar version of that range growing up, with the griddle. Only thing different was the right front burner had a dial where you could dial in the temperature. It was a great stove and the griddle was used a lot.

It was nice having two ovens too.

..With the magic eye tube and presence control brings back memories. I had this console in a very MCM danish style cabinet with functional louvers over the speakers. What sound, what quality!

I liked the fact you could kick the TT to automatic and disengage the power button over at the main controls. After the last LP had played it would shut down everything. The volume control was a concentric shaft pot and you could adjust the "balance" by turning the inner knob which was lighted from below to reveal plus/minus numbers IIRC. Really a knockout!
