looks like an Imperial pair from around 1970 to 1974.There were two different imperials.both had the 2 speeds with 6 position fabric selectors that have preset agitation & spin speeds and wash & rinse temps. The higher end imperial has a full width panel light.

Well, at least it was saved, and I'm sure it was by a member here. Better than finding out it was crushed!

There's no guarantee it went to someone who'd save it. A non member of here probably doesn't care what it is as long as it washes and dries.

I kinda doubt a non-member would buy an old avocado colored washer/dryer set ;) White, maybe, but not avocado, lol.

Ok, speak up, who got 'em?

There is an active and growing number of persons looking for scrap metal combing CL appliance and other sections.

If the cost of the unit or units is low enough that it makes good business, such persons will pick up the old appliance or appliances and make their money back at the salvage yard.
One even finds such persons bodly advertising for such things right on CL.

Old and vintage appliances are of particular interest because the high amount of metal used in those days. My Whirlpool portable washer weighs in at over 200lbs for such a "small" appliance.

Scrap metal?

I know a scrapper, and he typically gets no more than $10.00 for each appliance, and that would be older ones with more metal. That set sold for $125.00. If an idiot were to buy these, and turn them in for scrap, then that would be a loss of $105.00 approximately.

Yeah, I doubt they went to a scrapper, $125.00 is way too much to pay.
I sold a load about 2 weeks ago, for $125.00 a TON. That's about 11-12 picked over hulks of 'fridges, washers, etc.
