You may have seen the Maytag 906s that I got from Greg. Well, after 40 years they needed some work. The washer needed a new water valve (3 selenoids). Terry Lattz was here while I drove Greg to the airport this summer and the machine malfunctioned (valve stayed open) and overflowed into the laundry room and basement. I suppose I could have fixed it myself, but, luckily knew of a local repair service that I called when this happened. Oh baby baby. When Dan the repairman showed up I almost fainted. When he walked in the back door, he said Wow! when he saw the machines. Not only was he a doll, he appreciated the 906s. After a series of calls he replaced the water valve (which he had in stock, his family has been in the business for 40 years) but also the nylon wheels on the motor mount and the spin brake.

I have been having some fun emailing my friends about his visits. I had Terry Lattz visit me this last weekend and decided to have some fun. The dryer motor needed to be replaced so I called Dan and he arrived. Terry took his picture with the machines. Not only do I get to have the machines kept in tip-top shape, I get to have Dan come and service them. I will let Terry comment on the visit. I sure enjoyed it.

I love those machines. Too bad they're so reliable ;-)

I never have this kind of luck with repairmen who show up at my place.

I'd buy him a plane ticket and pay double to have him "fix" some things around here.

WOW !!!!! Get the smelling salts quick!!!

All I can say is that what Fred had shared with me about
"Dan the Man" was true and then some. I just got back home tonight after a wonderful visit with Fred. Fred was kind enough to schedule Dans visit while I was there. It is rare in this day an age that one finds a young guy that is not only handsome but so so nice. I knew the minute he walked in the door that he was really a great guy. As you can imagine I made sure I was close at hand for his every need. When he needed the vacuum to clean up some lint I had it ready and waiting. When he asked me if I could give him a "hand" I almost pushed that 906 right through the wall to help. I think we were thinking about different things but oh well. He had me hold up one belt and pulley while he attached the second belt. I mentioned to him that Fred and I were members of a fantastic vintage appliance club and I wondered if he would mind if I got a picture of him in front of Fred's machines. He was most happy to pose for that picture. I do wish I would have had the camera ready while he was leaning way and I do mean way over the machine trying to position the cord correctly, now that would have been interesting for all of you to see.

Bob, you are right, Dan would have made an outstanding Maytag Man, and trust me he would never be lonely!!

Thanks for the extra treat Fred!

PS, Not only was Dan a nice treat but you should have seen Steve the Plumber!! It's easy to see why Fred enjoys living in St.Charles!

Terry

you know the best part is that his amazement of the machines...

I had the Frigidaire guy here to fix my set a few weeks back, handsome guy, and super nice, mentioned the site to him and showed him a few of my machines, BUT he never heard of a twin tub, roller/pulse/multi-matic, or never seen a Speed Queen solid tub till he seen mine, and wondered what was the benefit of the older machines, it's just a machine that washes clothes he replied, my thought was "LEAVE THIS HOUSE!"....this boy needed an education, How can some of these guys go to school for this and not know the history of the manufacturers, I'm into cars also, and I prefer an All Wheel Drive, TURBO, fuel injected vehicle in any form, but knowing the basics and how cars have improved over the years helps in understanding form and function......(sarcastic)a corvette is just a car, a kitchen aide is just a dishwasher, a plasma is just a tv, and DAN is just a plain guy...NOT!!!

May I please see him shaved and in a tuxedo?
(Or at least black trousers and no yellow logo).

If anyone wants to say put that head/face on a Jake Gyllenhall nude body, my email address is available. LOL

possibly hiring Dan to replce my damper pads#A108

I think I have worn damper pads on my A108 Maytag. Perhaps the outer tub bolts are loose also. My machine is noisy when spinning if not loaded perfectly. It spins true when empty or if I go to extra trouble to rearrange clothes it is o.k. Call Steve Holvay 773-283-8456. Dan may be my ace in the hole!!!
