I have the same memories of the Laundromat in Buzzard's Bay Ma. The "Speed Wash". Had Philco Bendix "Double Loads" front loaders for $.35, Speed Queen Toploaders with "Bang Solenoids" for $.25, and Huebsch Dryers for $.10 for 10 minutes of dry time with the "Load Trol" speeds 1-5 for the RPM in which the drum rotated from slow to fast. And in the back, they had "Big Boys" that held like 40 lbs for $1.25. Talk about loud solenoids that went BANG...LOL |

I know what your talking about with the Gary, Gary,...That was the pump that ran constantly as they were solid tubs and when the machine filled due to various water pressures, they ran all the time and when they got starved for water they made that sound. Good Memory. How old are you ???(Not to be personal, but that was some time ago. Check out YouTube and search Speed Queen. You will hear those sounds again.
