If you have the basket with the Cone, there is no need to rinse in the wash tub. Test after test reveals that the 1100 needle spray holes in the cone thoroughly rinse the load in just a few minutes, depending of course on how sudsy your washing liquors are. The most encouraging thing about this machine is what the picture reveals. The two drain controls at 5 and 7 o'clock on the control panel are in the drain position rather than in the fill position. A machine that old with control left in the fill position usually causes the valves to seal over the port openings. In the drain position, they are free- standing--open like an oval window. Just be sure to fill both tubs with a few gallons of hot water and liquid detergent and let the solution soak a while before you fire up the motor. Then after the water drains--and only then--gently slide the drain control levers up and down. Both tubs will drain simultaneously. If you do this carefully, you should have no trouble. Stuck valves often come loose and fall into the pump, then you have a big pain in Forest Gump's buttocks to deal with. This is a magnificent washing machine, extemely agile and powerful, precision engineered, most probably a 1958 model. It looks to be in excellent conditon and you have the very rarely seen literature accompanying it. Wait till you read the rinsing options: spray or power flush. I'm so happy someone went after this. Welcome to the the Easy Spin Club. |

I have an extra spin basket with the cone, but it's heavy so maybe pricey to ship. Not sure, hear the post office has a new system with flat rates for boxes of various sizes. Anyhoo, you can have the cone spinner. I can't let a a fellow Easy lover go with out the joy of the cone. We'll just have to figure out the shipping. GASP !!!! You HAVE the plunger bell agitator Easy and you don't use it. I'd be ringing those bells a lot. I've heard you just have to be careful not to fill the wash tub too high. Please try it and let us know. |

Went and picked her up last night and was up until 4am tinkering :) Everything seems all well except the pump, which makes a lot of rattling and leaks a bit out of the shaft. Dunno what to do about that. I had to take the motor apart and oil the bearing caps because it was getting tight and squeaking. No damage done to the motor, I cleaned it of all the crap that had collected and it ran faster and near silent. Motor is a GE. I'll probably start a new post on some more specific questions, but it was Easy-er (ha!) to use than it looked and all of the drain valve worked like a charm. The Wash side doesn't completely seal sometimes, but that may get better with use. CLICK HERE TO GO TO macboy91si's LINK |

I was sooo curious what these were like, there is very little info on them anywhere, a few photos, but only video does that lazy Easy action justice. The machine is VERY quiet after the motor service, I was worried about losing transission oil since it has to be transported on it's side, but no worries after hearing how quiet it is. The pump was unhooked during the filming, it's rattly. I'm assuming the pump bearing is going out, but I don't know where to even start for a replacement. The pump spins very freely, but the shaft is very loose in the bearing and it leaks water through the pulley shaft. I dunno, I bought some rtv sealant and I may take the pump apart and see what I can do, there is a bolt where the weep hole usually is, maybe this is an adjustment. Luckily, the whole pump doesn't have to be replaced, the pulley/impeller is located on a removable cover, so only that has to be removed. 6 screws and a gasket and boom it's off. The machine seems very serviceable and the fragile parts all are in good shape, mainly the drain plungers. All of the controls work on what look like bicycle brake cables which is cool. The only thing that flat-out does not work is the timer. I didn't know that the timer is NOT linked to the motor. It's a kitchen timer essentially and is only there to remind you to turn the machine off. The bell works, but the timer won't wind up and run. Also I have not tried the inlet faucet system, it seems pretty cool, especially the power flush spray rinse thing. That works so well and the motor has the torque to keep the RPM's up during spin so it really gets the crap out. The neatest thing about the machine is that it's a twin-tub machine essentially that's powered by one motor. It has a huge transmission in it. Cosmetically it needs a tab for one of the controls, and the spinner lid was damaged. Cool machine though, I love it. -Tim |
