whats the "Xtra Roll Action plus"?Would like to see a picture of one or a film clip of it in use.Is that from WP or KN? I can't post pictures from this computer-but the one I like are the Surgilators,Roto-Swirls,and the Huge Norge "Burpilators"I do have the "Ratchet" sound DA-early one-its effective but not real entertaining to watch.

I wonder..

I should call Whirlpool and ask if they have put the Xtra Roll Action plus in any 2.5 CF models.. Or at the very least, a Surgilator.. (Still havent seen any.. I have a uselss straight vane now in my Inglis.. DOesnt get the clothes as clean as the old Dual Action in my Kenmore..)

Agitator Garden

At the convention, Greg set up a bunch of agitators in his garden. He told everyone that we could take our favorite one. I could not as I would have had a hard time with that on the plane.

After I got back though, someone brought an old Whirlpool Thin-twin for disposal. This one is so old it was a belt drive washer with the cutest little Surgilator you ever saw. I will post a pic when I can. I'm saving that little Surgilator!

Agitator ''free-for-all''

I grabbed the Westinghouse agitator duo before we left and Mom grabbed a cone from the Deep Action...I didn't hear about the "take-an-agitator" thing until late so there wasn't really much left! If I knew about it earlier I would have grabbed one of the Roto-Flexes or the Penta-Swirl...better luck next time! Three agitators remained--two solid-tub SQ agitators and a WCI angel-wing...I guess nobody wanted them because they were being used as table decorations Sunday morning! There were other agitators under a tarp that were originally part of the "agitator garden", but weren't meant to be grabbed.

Those little Surgilators are cool...what is the condition of the machine?

The machine is sad-sitting in a corner of the backroom awaiting the shipping container to Oahu. Looks like one of the supports is busted as the tub leans

i looked on the WP website and saw the "Xtra-Roll Action Plus" From the picture they showed it looked like the auger blades were sort of "serrated"couldn't that tear clothes-also looked at 4 "Epinions" reviews of WP machines that had the Extra action agitator. One commented that it shredded clothes.Others had no problems.anyone here have any "reviews"of a WP washer with the Xtra-Action Plus agitator?

Why can't Whirlpool.....

just go back and use their tried and true single action Surgilators. Those agitators always had good consistent turnover. Even the early DD Surgilators were better than these hole diggers they have been using for WAAYY TOO LONG.

Also why can't WP-KN go back to their tried and true Belt Drive?I too like my surgilator equipped WP Imperial 90.And it has the classic better the DD belt drive.Surer and slower more powerful agitator strokes.

Hmmm.. I need a Surgilator for my 2.5 CF Inglis DD.. The one there, like I said, is straight vane and doesnt cut it.. Here's a pic of it.. Again, not exactly strikingly effective..

Surgilators

Yes, I agree. The old surgilators and other single action agitators do it for me. I have seen dual action agitators where the top part of the agitator comes off and floats in the tub. It is time the manufacturers went back to what is "trid and true"

I agree

I will say that i would have to agree with westyslantfront on the surgilators in the WP BD's. My boyfriend just baught a new Kenmore washer today at sears a plane jane model, and it has the agitator like the straight vane in this colom, he baught it to replace his dead kenmore dual action belt drive,
I told him to stick with belt drive and get a used one and i would refurb it for him, however the guy at Sears convinced him other wise.
Well he gets the thing home and starts a wash, i watch the thing with 3 sheets in it and you can tell that there is hardly any rollover at all, unlike my WP Imperial 70 with the Surgilator Super that creats exelent action. It is clear to me that BD models had a stronger tranny unlike the DD's that are on the puiny and weak side as far a heavier loads go.
When i tell this to my fellow he says "o well it'll serve it purpose for now". HA Men geeze :-)) I think that they should stick to the tried and true method of a single agitator like the surgilator, and go back to the BD method of washers, needless to say when i look at these new DD's i look for a plce to put the batteries in just like a toy. ;-))

BD=King

The early DD machines didn't seem too bad, however, the current models are just plain flimsy! My DD Kenmore has been kicked out of the "laundry shed" and once I get the Dual-Action back in there it's going to be sold (or given away)!! I'd like to see how an early Design2000 or 24" DD Kenmore compares to what they have now.

The DD Surgilators aren't too bad (they're in Whirlpool machines that are a step up from BOL) and can handle a good-sized load. Somehow, the 27" machines with the larger tub seem to work better with this agitator. The lower-end machines are usually 24", and have a narrower tub than the 27" machines which makes it even harder for the agitator to turn over the load. Thus, the Dual-Action is absolutely necessary for these.

The belt-drive Super Roto-Swirl was another good agitator and worked well with the standard-capacity machines. I have one in my 1982 large-capacity Kenmore and it works great provided that it is not overloaded (2 sets of sheets is a bit of a stretch as I found out...maybe not with the Surgilator though). The water and clothes really move around with that thing...not so with a DD!!

BOL stands for Bottom Of the Line.
TOL stands for Top Of the Line.

Man.. Surgilators seem king

I want one of these.. I need one from a 2.5 CF XL cap. Anyone got one? lol.. Because the turnover in my Inglis (or INGLES[ing-uls] as I have been playfully calling it) is crap..

thats good-figured there would be other BD fans out there.they can be like the Eveready Bunny-they just keep going and going--And if it breaks-can be fixed. Most cases just replace the belt. And no worries from broken couplers from sneakers and oversize loads or big items. And no shredded clothes either. The BD Roto-swirl is another one of my favorites-My grandmothers KN had a very large black one and my stepmoms washer had the Roto-Swirl.They work-all there is too it.And better for delicate items. The surgilator may thrash those too much.Thats where its neat to have a "WP-KN" agitator "library" to choose from. Then you are ready for anything you can put in the washer.
Another one-sometimes it shows up on the POD-one of those WP "whoppers" would be so coool.Would be interesting in the pixture of it to show a standard WP for scale.Interesting it doesn't have the "D" shaped tub opening.
