KDS18 for far better loading flexibiilty, and you can truely BobLoad it without worrying about blocking anything with the single-wash level older models. The 18 and 23 series were probably the best performing KitchenAids before Whirlpool canned the Hobart-designed porcelain tub style for the new SS interior tub 24 & 25 series, which I saw were nothing more than glorified Whirlpools.

but as a kitchanaid lover and owner i like the 17 and older one's best! there are tons of guys here that will disagree and they are prob right, the 18's and up offer easier loading flexibility and prob clean a bit better but i never have a dirty dish come out of any of my older models. my kd-5 top loader does the best of all! it sounds like a tornado inside! i know a lot of the guys don't like the 19's cause they lack a heated dry and i have a kds-19 and a kdi-19 but that never bothered me as i usually air dry them anyway. but i am biased as i am in it for the sake of collecting and restoring and preserving them, i never really think about how well they will clean when i get them. if they come out dirty i'll run it again! |
