On the way out to the house I spied a pink appliance in a driveway. Hoping it might be a dishwasher I went back & spoke to a very nice gentleman. It turned out to be a georgious 5 burner 2 oven Moffat range. The thing is in great shape but the movers that delivered the new range would only take the old one outside, not away. They chipped the front right hand corner. Had there been no chips I would have brought it home. I have never seen a range so beautiful. Two elements on either side & a deep well burner in the middle. There were knobs on either side at the front to raise & lower something inside the ovens. His english was even worse than my french, but we were able to find out he bought it used in 1968 from a lady who had it 15 years (I think) The glass front on the controle tower was in great shape, needed a good cleaning inside & out. If they had a chip repair in pink I would go get it before he takes it to the dump next week. I am a dishwasher guy but this range caught my eye. Hmmmm might keep my eyes open for a vintage range now. Michael

There are porcelain repair kits that you can mix your own to get the correct color. I haven't used them but it might be worth a try.

I think even if it had one chip-and the unit worked- I would try to round up some strong freinds and a truck capable of hauling it and take it off his hands-you might be able to swap it for a favorite dishwasher-the machine sounds too good to leave behind.

Mike you should go grab it and fix the paint chips up.
We had a Moffat double wide growing up, only 4 burners, the second oven was really a warming oven only. Beautiful control console and mechanical timer built in. My mother really loved it and misses it since she had her kitchen reno. In the end there's bound to be someone or some vintage store in Toronto that will pay good bucks for it.
