Has anybody purchased one of those Kenmore washers that were on sale in 2008? They are going on sale this year also. They aren't on the website to check reliability on them. I want to buy one,but hope they are not a piece of crap. It was the washer and dryer for $679 I think. They are cheaper this year. They are the 3.5 washer & 5.8 dryer. The nice person at the store let me look at one in the storeroom. Not much thrills but looks good for the price. Will it be worth getting up at 3a.m.?

Thats a Frigidaire made set, the dryer is decent, and so is the washer.. Its a some what good machine.. And if money is a concern and you want a front loader, id say go for it..

The washer uses a decent amount of water, has simple controls and is fairly quite

I'd get it

The lady at the store said it was going for $579 for the set.

It's a Frigidaire Gallery

google "Frigidaire Gallery" in the Searchalator ... someone loves it , many hate it .....

Anyway according to frigidaire.com with 699 $ you'd take the BOL washer only ... indeed @ sears you "can more" : you'll get the matching dryer too :-)

I bought those when they firat came out and they were a lot more than that I think that I payed 1,400.00 for the both with the drawers. The washer cleaned real good but they were just 2 cheap they made a lot of noise when they spinned the dryer wadded up the clothes. But I have to say that they did not get that nasty washer smell that other front loader get.Maybe they have improved so I would give them a try.I would put a service contract on them.

The Frigidaire-made washer gets good marks from Consumer Reports. Better than the upscale Affinity line, in fact.

$700 bucks for the pair---that's definitely a bargain. My only beef would be the puny 5.8 cu. ft. dryer drum. I have the same-sized drum in a different dryer.

good set...

i bought this set and paid 1,100 dollars.. been happy with them
no doubt. last year bought a set for my parents and took advantaage of the black friday price from sears. paid 6oo i think. they love it too..
this year sears runnung the same offer, but only 4 sets per store. last year becuse of the overwhelming sales i had to wait for my parents set that was delivered in february. well worth the wait...
i think it will be tougher getting the set this year. there is disclosure in the ad "only 4 per store.."

is making a few of the Sears Kenmore HE front loaders now. I went to the Sears in Hilo Hawaii yesterday and saw two different HE washer dryer sets. One set had the up front controls and was stackable. The other set had the backpanel control boards. But damn Sears and the f***ing smoked glass windows!!!Why even bother to have a window if you can't see through it??? Their days are numbered. I can't wait to see them fall.I used to love going there and seeing new products that were made by other manufacturers in Sear's specifications but, after the Front loading washers made a serious come back, the only ones that had smoked glass were the ones made for them by Whirlpool. Frigidaire made their first sets and did nothing to darken the see through glass windows. The only other mnufacturer that seamed to be so afraid to have a see through window was Maytag and we all see what happenened to them.

same story here

I went to buy one last year and told me it would take 6 months to get it in Lubbock. My local Sears store have the nicest owners. They remembered me buying a dishwasher four years ago. They were honest about the sale this year. They told me if they sold more than 4 they(store owners) would half-to pay full price for them. She said that I could buy them online and have them delivered to their store. Sears is being very strict this year on those washers. I just wonder if I have a problem with it, if they could help me or not. The online purchases come from a different supplier than the normal stock that is in their store(appliance Sears store). The Fort Stockton Sears store has wonderful owners. I had to return a dishwasher after three repairs, and traded it in on the same dishwasher, no problems.

I ended up with the LG wm2016cw and the LG dle2516w. The reviews were better, and I didn't feel like getting up at 3a.m. with the other 100 people for only 4 washers. I bought it from best buy, and will pick it up on Saturday. The only thing was I had to call the store itself. It took a long time, but I hope it was worth it. The thing is I think my husband wants to play with it. I wash at least 15 loads a week, so I am going to come out ahead, oh yeah honey, there more dirty laundry over there. His trick is to put some of my clothes in with his so I will fold the clothes. Signed the former owner of a leaking, banging, about to crap out washer(but a good washer, 15 loads min.for 5 years).

I got in here too late to tell you to absolutely run away fast from that Kenidaire set, but thankfully you did the right thing.

You will be infinitely happier with the LG pair. There is no contest.

I wouldn't wish anyone the inconvenience of a 3 AM campout in order to get their hands on a washer that performs as poorly as my Affinity.

I installed them today. They work great. So far, so good. Not too basic not to fancy.

leveling

Me and my husband finally leveled the washer. It worked great until the second load, then it started jumping across the floor. Well today I grabbed the owners manual and stuck it under one of the feet, and now it is wonderful. I did it as a joke, but it actually worked. Now hopefully I can find a piece of cardboard to replace it, but it would be hilarious is five years from now the only thing that will work is the owners manual. Ma-am, what is that crusty thing under your washer,oh that just the owners manual it's very handy to keep.
