I need some help deciding!! I have access to the Whirlpool 9400 washer and the 9500 dryer for $1050. In addition to that offer I can get the Kenmore HE3T (w/Steam) washer and dryer for $1000.

So for a $50 difference which would you go with? The whirlpool set has more cycles and sanitizing in both the washer and dryer. However the Kenmore has steam in the washer whereas the Whirlpool only has it in the dryer.

Thoughts?

Pretty much the Whirlpool and Kenmore washer have the same feature set. According to Whirlppol's site, the washer has a 1200 rpm max spin speed vs. the Kenmore's 1050 rpm. The Santize feature on the dryer is simply maintaining high temperature longer as the load dries vs. comparable cycle using high heat dry. could cause some fabric damage. The Whirlpool may be a better value.

I prefer Whirlpool's model because

It has the clear glass window you can easily see inside of.For some unknown reason all of the Sears versions of L.G.,Whirlpool and Frigidaire have a hard to see through smoked glass window. Why anyone would want to go and spend that much money and not be able to see through the glass is beyond my own personal comprehention. One of the main reasons I like washers and dryers is because the old Westinghouse Laundromat,Bendix,GE,Whirlpool,Norge,Crosley,Speed Queen and Signature front loading washers, dryers and combos had clear glass (probably made by Pyrex and/or Libby Glass division of the Ford Motor Company)you can easily see inside with. This stupid idea of Sears has helped me emensly to sell their competitors'models. The same thing happened in avoiding Maytag's Neptune line knowing their failure records and questioning why they were so afraid of letting anyone see how they washed.

When I was shopping for a new FL pair a couple of years back, I found that the on-line opinion sites all had the same reports: The Kenmores were more trouble-prone due to extras and Duets got far better reviews and scored higher with customer satisfaction over all. I loved my Duet pair and also agree that clear glass over smoked should seal the deal.
