Those are 810's. The washer is most loaded Helical washer Maytag ever manufactured (noticed I said helical and not orbital). The 810 dryer is loaded with more options than the 712. "the washer even has buttons for 2nd rinse" Nope, the 2 far left buttons were options to bypass or include the soak cycle. |

I'm heading out this morning to pick up a similar pair of Maytags. They're white and are probably a level below this pair; washer does not have the left-most pair of buttons and the dryer appears to have all the same options but is automatic (not electronic) dry. The consoles are a woodgrain, not solid brown and the trim is a bronze tone. I'll post pics when I get them home. L |

I have to admit, the 710 was the first Maytag I really liked and wanted. Since I grew up being trained the "Kenmore" way, every machine should have N/N, N/S, and S/S speed combos. And it ircked me to no end that you either had the two speed combo or 4-speed combo and nothing in between for the center dial tags. . The 710 was my knight in shining armor. And to my knowledge, this was the only time after the center dial tags were discontinued, this arrangement was offered. Don't believe it existed on the 12 series.

I stand corrected MT must have had HG in the 1980s models We called the new style the montgomery wards look because maytag lost thier great style .I was still in maytag sales during this time the HG color didn't last long MT was about the to first drop it. Ironically it took Whirlpool to bring some classic style to the Maytag name along with much better reliability.

Page 5, picture #1: my favorite oddball "Maytag-being-unbelievably-stingy" fabric softener cup-less lint filter assembly. I have a couple of these and NOW I think they look kind of spiffy on the power fin agitator. I will, however, never forget my reaction of utter indignation and despair when I first saw one inside one of these "10" series washers. As if it weren't criminal enough to abandon the iconic Center Dial; they were depriving customers of the best passive fabric softener dispensers ever designed. There is a special place in my hard little heart for people who scan and post vintage appliance catalogs. |
