During a call on a Dependable Care washer, I saw this in the kitchen. Haven't seen one of these consoles in a LONG time.

Model 587.718500
Serial 1960681270
Stock 71852

They bought it in 1970. Actually, it's barely used. And, yes, it's a portable that has been mounted in the cabinet.

A rack closeup....

The machine itself is in pretty good shape but hasn't been run in a very long time.

That's a neat roto-rack dishwasher.

The whole kitchen looks straight out of the 70's. How did the rest of house look?

That's the exact model we had for our lake house. Forced air drying. Very good cleaner. Ours was bought in spring 1971. typical noie (fun) D&M dishwasher. This was the model right under the LK. Still has the small items basket, how cool is that.

I bought this machine for mom (portable) while we were in NY. Moved down to FL in '72 and built it in. Removed it about 10 years ago and made it back into a portable. It's now back with me in Georgia.

Charbee, I hear ya. I can relate. and what4 a very special 1st dishwasher. We had many happy times and had many people visit us on weekends and summer holidays outside of new Braunsfels. We had a harvest gold kitchen. Until 2.5 yeears ago, that was the only all-matching kitchen I've ever had in my life, including the 3 houses I've owned. Now my kitchen matches with all black appliances.

and Steve, I'd not forgotten, but I waited for you to spill your beans too!!

I had no idea that anyone else offered a Small Items Basket.

I thought that was a KitchenAid exclusive .

Small Items Bask

Oh heavens no Eddie. Our 1968 Waste King had them integral in both flatware baskets, a hinged lit was there for the convenience. I think TOL GEs offered them and so did Whirlpool. My 1986 GE GSD1200 Postcrubber has an integral basket hinged lid that folded up into the basket handle when not needed.

I usually do bring tears to people's eyes... Just not in a good way... LOL!

She's currently concerned that if she DID run it, it'd leak really bad from disuse. It's just the two of them and they find it faster to do the dishes by hand...

Verdi

Gee Drew, isn't Verdi still kind of out in the middle of nowhere? The places things will turn up!

That kitchen appears to be a very original 70's museum piece, complete with cinnamon tile countertop trimmed with wood.
