Harvest gold is like my favorite vintage machine color and I have noticed that not many BD Whirlpool's were ever harvest gold. I think I may have seen 2 of them total. Nothing like Maytags where you see quite a few harvest ones running around.

Bruce,
I see HG Whirlpool BD's here and there, most white, a few almond, and very little coppertone machines.

Control close-up.

The machine was too rusty for me to drag home.

Silver Anniversary -

I guess that would make this a 1972 Whirlpool?

OH wow! I'm looking for one of those with the console light. I would say that that machine was heavily used. Silver Anniversary!? Never seen that. Can someone please fill me in on the Silver Anniversary series?

Wow that was a really cool machine. I've seen pics of a couple of the Silver Anniversary models but don't know anything about them.

Odd bird:

I would say that it is earlier than 1972 only because it looks like it has a mercury lid switch, which was last seen in 1970 models; at least in Kenmores. Before the money shot I would have pegged this as a 1975 large capacity model which one of my friends had. Nothing makes a better match than that Surgilator with that style filter.

Have a good one,
James

Not a mercury lid switch. Notice the little actuator in the rear edge of the lid, a little right of center.

Looks to be an LAA model, 1974-1975.

It's exactly like a Brastemp "Gran Luxo"

To turn it into a Brastemp one just needs to replace the panel, the lid handle (Brastemp has nothing written on it) and the agitator cap.

Silver Anniversary

The silver anniversary marking appeared on the washer consoles in 1974 marking the 25th year of making automatic washers they started in 1949. I was disappointed when they did not do this again for thier 50th anniversary in 1999.

1999? Is that the year in which Whirlpool launched the Whirlpool Gold series for the higher end models? I think I had a catalog with those machines and even the last CleanTouch model.
