Howdy All!

While looking at some of the collections on this site, I notice that several of these machines look like the one on the "I Love Lucy" episode where Lucy sells the machine to Ethel and it breaks, throwing water and clothes all over the kitchen. Does anyone know what type of machine this was? Just curious.

This has been a topic of discusion before. If I remember correctly, the decision was it was an amalgamation of several machines, but I think the base was either an ABC-O-Matic or Launderall.

Thanks Robert. I've always wondered about that, and just recently found this site. I'm glad I'm not the only one in the world who has put a considerable amount of thought into this washer. LOL.

One more thought

On Lucy's machine from the other thread.

Many people mentioned that this was a modified Launderall. Could it be that they just took of the top and put it on backwards--making the back of the machine the front? Or were the Launderalls open in the back?
