Does anyone know if a LG front loader that boils the clothes
is better than a top lauder?

Hello Louis

That is asking one very BIG question of this group....

- New or Used?
- Which model LG?
- Which model Top Loader....
- What is the stated capacity of the machine...

The questions could go on for days.....could be fun

How about a picture or link to the relevant manufacturers web sites....?

Certainly a Front loader which boils clothes is better than any top loader.

Ensure it is capable of reaching 95 degrees on the hottest wash and it will be just great.

"Better" depends on criteria of judgement.

A top-loader uses less time and electricity.
Unsurpassable for mud, dirt, grease;/oil, contaminants on clothing, sand, good rinsing. More water means ultimately more dirt can be held in suspension in the water. 99% of the time there is no such dirt level present except perhaps on a farm or in a mechianic's garage.

A front-loading boil-washer uses less water.
Unsurpassable for dissolving body-oils (sebum), stain removal and washing "odd" items; coats, tennis shoes (sneakers), pillows, car mats etc.

And before this becomes yet another flame war, PLEASE unless one has used both type of machines for long periods of time there is no need to defend to the death that which one is familiar with and slaughter that which one has used once or twice.

Both types have a place in my heart, but top-loaders will always reek of "home" and my youth.

An enlightened user will work with the benefits and around the drawbacks inherent in both types of washing machine.

Exactley, given any machine and access to the variables of time, temp, agitation/water level and detergents ones washing can always be clean!!!

Just my opinion....

I happen to have both, and frequently use both for various reasons. I have a Miele 1966, and '79 G.E. Filter Flo.

For instance, I rarely wash whites in my Filter Flo. Why? Cause my Miele can do the same thing in one 120 degree wash, that my Filter Flo would take doing a 130 degree hot wash with detergent, then another warm wash with bleach, and 2 rinses. So, lets see....13 gallons of cold water, heated to temp OR about 100 gallons of water, almost half of that water from the water heater.....

In regards of cleaning, there is no comparison if you ask me. Even an unheated wash in the FL will make better results in the end. One, cause of the way it washes, two, cause of better rinsing. I rarely pre-treat stains in the Miele. Typically, I will wash colors or bedspreads, or the occasional load of towels in the Filter Flo. If I need something in a hurry, its the TL...thank God for mini-washes. Everything else goes in the Miele. Basically, some clothing need more water to get cleaned and rinsed properly. So, in that case, I use the TL. If cleaning or "sanitizing" is needed, I head for the FL. Do not get me wrong, my Filter Flo can clean like a son of a bitch. It really does do a great job. Yes, even with stains and whites, I do not worry much. It just takes a little more user attention to get the same results; not to mention water, detergent, and electricity.

I like OLDER TL washer. Not this new age DD crapola in plastic, that beats the dirt out. I used just the Filter Flo as my daily driver for quite a while, and then when I got the Miele, realized how much easier it is to get better results. Then again, I still prefer a TL wash for somethings, and for the entertainment factor. So, I would not wanna choose one or the other. Each has their own advantages and disadvantages. BUT, if you are just looking at over all cleaning results, it is my opinion that a FL is always the way to go.

Are there any LG and Samsung impeller top loaders in the US

As I wrote in another thread these machines didn't catch here in europe (no internal heater and too short washing times)

From what I read here and on THS, in the US their frontloaders seem to be more common than these toploaders.

What's wrong with these toploaders ? Maybe the "disc" isn't so effective as an agitator?

TIA
Carlo

LG front loader

This 7 KG washer is only about a year old. It does boil the clothes up to 95 degrees. All in all, it is a good machine.
I used to have a 478 Miele and nothing comes close!
Happy New Year to all.
