There is something wrong with my kitchenaid dishwasher... Today I loaded it up pressed normal washer then start. It filled, and all it did was hum. No washing occured. I am at work right now, but it is a 3 year old S series with the hidden controls. Any idea what the issue could be? When I get home I am going to pull the filter and see if anything stuck in the pump area. If it's the pump are they difficult to replace?

You could have something stuck in the chopper assembly. Otherwise the motor could be bound up. How old is this d/w? Some Kitchenaids have 5 yr parts only warranty. A model and serial # will tell.

Well, I took the motor apart and the motor is seized up...it is very hard to turn by hand... There was nothing binding the chopper up... GRRRRRR Cheap manufacturing!

:(

The model number is KUDS02FRBL2. I really like this dishwasher as we got it for a steal, its very quiet and cleans well... Hopefully I can get a replacement pump asap and sump (I caught the gasket and it got a slice in it) under the warranty.

Good Bye KitchenAid Dishwasher

Well, I contacted KitchenAid and the replacement parts would cost a lot more than what I paid for the unit. So I went out and purchased a Bosch Dishwasher. It is one of the new ascenta line of machines. I have been looking at this model since it came out and I like how they mixed the plastic bottom with the stainless walls. I purchased the SHE6AP06UC and so far so good. It is just as quiet as the KitchenAid was, but it is smaller inside and I will miss the 3rd rack. I have had a Bosch dishwasher in the past and it cleaned really well, but it leaked like crazy. Hopefully this one will give us years of worry free cleaning! And so far all the reviews have mostly been positive.

Hopefully this one wont leave the little bits of food on some of the utensils and items in the upper rack like the WhirlAid did!

What are your opinions on this new Bosch?
