While I've had 2 very small and very impromptu "wash-in's" as they were, this was my first time hosting an official Wash-In!

First I want to thank EVERYONE who attended and ESPECIALLY those who traveled more then 30 minutes to be here! I was pleasantly surprised and flattered that 4 different people drove 2 hours each (from Palm Spring, San Diego and Lake Arrowhead), 2 drove 8 hours from Reno, Nevada.... and one person even flew down from Vancouver, Canada just to attend my Wash-In!!!

All total 23 people attended! From Left to Right... the arm with the black shirt and pants is Andy (RedCarpetDrew, sorry Andy, I didn't realize until this morning I only got part of you!), in back is Gabrielle (Chance's mom), continuing in front John (Harvest Gold), Dick (Dick.S.), Chad, Scott (Scott55405), David (Smartdrive), Chris, Allen (Hometechdoc) and Juan, known as "Laundryboy" during the wash-in. LOL Now from the red shirt in back is Mike (Ge1054wguy), Matthew (GEExtraRinse), Joseph (Catalystboy), Brad (Bradross), Rich (Golittlesport), and finally Chance (Frapdoodle). The three in the back, left corner not paying attention are Tina, Ilene and Chris and they are obviously not part of AW! LOL

Andy (RCD) also brought down the little portable GE washer (made by Hitachi) and everyone wanted to see this one work too. Here Andy is filling it manually (all of the available faucets were in use).

As the evening was winding down, the fun was still not quite done. Our own Chance decided to take advantage of Kevin's water softener and bake a 'cake' or three. Kevin already offered a picture of the A50, so I'll share with you the Wards-Westinghouse Cake. The video is pretty funny as we get to see flying suds during the spin...

Since he had so much fun with the Westie, He then turned his sights on the poor, defenseless Frigidaire 1-18! I even asked him "Are you going to give that 1-18 the same treatment?" to which he gives me this innocent look and says "Of course not..." Uh Huh... I've heard that answer from my own kids enough to know better. Oh well, it's all fun!

A big, gigantic thank you to Kevin for hosting this event and inviting my wife and I to attend! I have always wanted to meet other members and put a face with a name with a screen name. I met so many wonderful people and it will be a memory to treasure. At some point, I'll have to do the same with our other members back East and points inbetween. THANK YOU, KEVIN!

I'm going to move this thread to the Imperial Forum so it gets archived properly, we don't want to lose these great pictures of everyone.

And it wasn't till way late in the pix when I discovered that your studio is partly--mainly!-- open to the California Air & Sun.

HOLY CHRIST--YOU HAVE WASHROOM PARADISE!!!!

Love the three iterations of the Surgilator flanked by the KM & GE-MB siblings on the agitator table.

I had NO IDEA that SO MANY people were coming. Amazing. Good for you and good for them.

Is the Easy delighted or annoyed that you used her only for beer. :-D She's one of the real classics, in terms of year made and model (the curving water-retaining rim); so glad you have her.

"Lots of food, discussions and happiness... " I'll say! AND WASHERS!!! And such wonderful people. I would have paid to have been there.

Will be revisiting this gorgeous album many times in the coming days, finding more cool stuff to yak about.

Thank you, Kevin and Andrew, for this treasure.

I'm really sorry I had to miss this one. Usually I don't need any excuse to bop down to greater L.A. but I'm currently on care-giver duty for my partner until he's able to get around on his own again.

It looks like it was a huge success and *loads* of fun. Was this the first ever wash-in to go international?

Kevin, thank you for hosting and sharing an amazing event. It is nice to be able to enjoy it from afar even if drool does mess with my keyboard. I am especially gratified to see several of the disenfranchised having a good time. I grieve the losses in my own pointless way and honor the connections.

It it took a lot to get everything in sync so this could all happen, but I'm very pleased it did! Yes it was really great to see my AW friends and to meet new ones! I wish more of you could have come!

It was also my pleasure to share photos of the event with all of you here, I really enjoy this website and AW.org is what inspired me to start my washer collection! Once I got all this set up for the party, I stepped back, looked and said "OMG, I where the hell did all these come from?? I CANNOT believe I have this many!" LOL

Cheers!

Oh, by the way Kevin, did I tell you what I have to tempt you with NOW?!?!?

LOL!!! Now that I saw the area you have to work with, I'm SURE I can find a thing or ten for you... I'm gonna feel like the neighborhood appliance pusher standing on the corner... "Hey, Kevin, I got whacha need for your fix..." LOL!

Seriously, this weekend is one for me to remember for a very long time. I feel so honored to be part of such a successful Wash-In and truly humbled to see how your GE and 1-18's were such a hit. And to think how they were destined to go to the pile, and now, I can't think of a more deserving home. I met so many wonderful people and now have faces to go with the names.

Thanks for inviting us and making a Nevada repairman's dream come true!

Hello Kevin! Hello Andy!

mickeyd's profile picture
I see by the tilt of the control panel and the elevated screw that you were tinkering, and your giant spring has come undone. I'm talking about your beer bucket ;-> aka, the Easy Spin. Getting the panel spring back on an Easy, both front and back panels, is almost as tricky as getting the bellows back on, in a Unimatic. If you need help, just holler. One of the few things I know how to do.

Andy, do you have plans to post the Agi-tub video. The site has one under "See It Wash," but the turnover is disappointing while the overflow force is fabulous. So I'm dying to know if you achieved turnover, at the Cape Kevin washer launch.

Roger that...over and out!

Hey guy's had no pc for several days long story anyway,
Kevin & Andy members you guy's look fantastic and like toggles said i hope we can all meet someday.
Kevin i would have a ball in that room love to do laundry in a sunny place how nice is that, aah you look real relaxed wringing your work shirt out... oooh yaa you belong here lol.
My dad had a skinny-mini in the 70's it was up stars in his apartment a bachelor again at this time , but when i visited him he would have company and i was watching and looking at this new weird agitator that was molded to a tub and had to see it work, so i washed everything in the house and finally learned how to bypass the switch in the back under the lid witch was hard but found it after five washes lol... Mike it does roll clothes nice and softly if not overloaded.
My friend in Rehobeth beach had one by my surprise and that one was sooooo loud but got the job done.
Kevin you said i put all the pics up, no here is the last one i had so there hmmm.
I hope the next time you have one i'll be there you and Andy did a great job !

MickeyD, the only one I had is embedded up above under Frigidaire Laundry Center... I admit that I should have shot more video... I'll plead insanity due to too much fun... I've actually gotten some requests for further video of this AgiTub in a wash AND spin but all pleadings will have to go to Kevin for him to shoot unless I aquire one some day...

I am surprised that the mastermind behind the sudscakes hasn't shown himself yet. Frapdoodle, you need to come up for air from that A50 you pried from Kevin's hands and take a bow... LOL!

I didn't see the video till just now, and the turnover looks rapid, so we did indeed have ignition and launch. It sounds strong and efficient just like a Frigidaire should.

Thanks again.

Funny you should mention Chance. I was going to say yesterday, joking, "that is, if any turnover is visible anywhere, after all of Chance's blinding sudscakes." ;'D

Cape KevAndrew, over and out! The joke is so dumb, I know, Cape Canaveril (sp) Cape Kennedy, etc, but I can't help myself. Pray for me.
