I've had my Edgestar ventless washer dryer combo for a little over two years now. I was using it this morning and the thing hums, but won't spin. I took the top and back covers off to see if I could see anything obvious, but everything looks fine from what I can tell. The belt is still attached and feels tight. Of course I don't know much about appliances. Just wondering what the problem can be if the belt is OK. There were warnings on the back panel not to remove due to risk of electric shock.... what in a mechanical washer can shock me if it isn't plugged in? Would it be OK to try to run it with the covers off and see what's going on inside? There are some LGs on CL for 900 and 700 dollars, but I don't want to spend the money if it's a simple fix. Guess it's back to buying quarters for the apartment facilities for now.

Thanks!

Sounds to me

Like it could be a motor brush failure, that is providing these machines have brush motors, which I would suspect they do.

I don't know what service is like on them in the states but here thats a cheap and easy fix if that is the problem. Other than that maybe a capacitor? Not massively clued up myself I am afraid.

Best of luck!

Matt

I just thought of something. I had my washer and space heater going at the same time on the same circuit and it popped the breaker. Before that happened, it worked fine, but after is when it stopped. Is that something that could have caused a problem in a mechanical washer? I'd understand if it was electronic since it wasn't plugged into a surge protector, but mechanical? Weird!

yes, it's a antoniomerloni.it

once these combos were rebadged as ASKO too, cause the swedish plants never made an all-in-one combo WD.

Some came badged as Equator
