splendide comb-o-matic 6100

Checkrate/Likes anyone running a splendide combomatic 6100? i got mine brand new,smashed up in a shipping accident,for $200 and fixed it up-cabnet was dented in several areas,top broke loose, detergent drawer broken,and blower motor smashed-parts from a drain pump of same mfg.fixed the blower motor. once fixed,bolted it to a stand made of angle iron to raise about 2 feet above floor. since then has been mostly trouble free for over 5yrs,after installed noticed a ticka-ticka-ticka from the(brushed) motor at low speeds,got worse so pulled out motor and turned and polished the com(i fix motors,so have the facilitys) -no more problems! this machine is made in italy and is DD#2 for smaller loads while a 1981 ge filter flo is DD#1 for bigger loads.

Checkrate/Likes *OMG !* again it's a antoniomerloni.it machine like the edgestar and the equator. I wonder how many badges they use in the whole world LOL

Checkrate/Likes interesting...in the U.S. at least this machine is often installed in houseboats,RV buses,and other vehicles. this machine runs the wash cycle in about 1hr 15min and to dry a load of 2 jeans,2shirts takes about 2 hrs. Technicly this machine is pretty "old skool" with mechanical controls and the motor control the only electronics.also, the drainpump is a(proper)shaded pole motor instead of one of those cheapo "wet rotor"magnetic types.

Checkrate/Likes *We have a Splindede 2000 S . . .* . . . in our camper. It is a vented washer/dryer combo, 8 years old, and works great. The washer holds 8 pounds, but I would take out half of that for the dryer simply because the tub is not big enough for the drying clothes to tumble. It spins at something like 1400 rpm and takes 30-50 minutes to dry a load, depending on what it is. When it was brand new, we had to have the mother board replaced. But other than that, it has been trouble free and we have been satisfied. Jerry Gay

He had 3 sons Vittorio, Francesco and Antonio. - Vittorio inherited the Ariston firm. Later he acquired a competitor (INDESIT). "Merloni Elettrodomestici" in 2005 became a company and changed name into "Indesit company" (badges Hotpoint-Ariston, Indesit, Scholt�s) - Francesco inherited "Merloni Termosanitari" a firm that produces electric water heaters, bath tubs ...... - Antonio used his inherited plants to work as contractor in Europe and US and never had a own badge. When chinese competitors started getting stronger, he bought some regional brands -e.g. "Servis"-, Asko Cylinda plants in Sweden and started using own badges (AR.DO.) but he was rather on late. Today 10000 jobs are in danger. Actually Indesit company has nothing to do with antoniomerloni.it . they are two separate companies In our market antoniomerloni.it badges (ARDO,PHILCO,Wegawhite..) are not so common as Indesit, E'lux, B.S.H., Whirlpool and Candy Group

Checkrate/Likes *Thanks for that.....* .....but if you do a search on the brand posted and look at the combo machines, they are Indesits....not to mention that the separate washer and dryer are Aristons...

Checkrate/Likes i will look over the splendide and see if there is any evidence of which of the manufacturs mentioned made it, the spring loaded struts supporting the tub say "philco p/n #xxxxxetc.and were made by suspa.

Checkrate/Likes *sorry Chris, you're right* latest Splendide indeed are no more antoniomerloni like old ones (found on google images models 2000 / 2001) but Indesit made. www.philcoelettrodomestici.it... is no more on line, the only Philco clue left is on www.antoniomerloni.it... home page. Harder times for those 10000 jobs ..........

Checkrate/Likes Are any of these 220 volt machines? The reason I ask is that on eBay, there was a firm in the Carolinas that sold a 220 volt condenser combo. They had all kinds of data on why it was better than any of the others and seemed very consciencious about wanting to sell only the best product. They said that the mechanical controls on the model they sold were more reliable than the electronic controls; the pump was more dependable on 60 cycle current etc. They tested each machine before selling it. I think I remember that it had parts from both Spain and Italy. I have not checked on it in more than a year so I don't know if it is still offered. It was cold fill only and heated the wash water, another thing it could do because it used 220 volt electrical service. I was tempted at one time to buy one. They sold for around $600.

Checkrate/Likes that sounds like a nice unit,especialy for $600. My 6100 is 115v with a max amps of 12.5-not sure how many watts the air heater for the condensing dryer is.

Checkrate/Likes Well, this place even said that the 220 volt machine could have a more powerful air circulator as well as a more powerful heating element for the drying. I am tempted to investigate the Fagor 220 volt combos, because Fagor is supposed to have some quality products, but they all seem to be 24 inch wide machines so the tubs are small. Anyone in our European side of the family have any experience with any Fagor laundry appliances?

Checkrate/Likes *To the best...* ....of my knowledge, Fagor only make 24" models.... BUT Even though the tubs are small, they are designed to be filled as the wash cycles will be longer than Nth American machines...and you won't be able to wash and dry a FULL load regardless....at the very best you'll get 15lb wash and 10lb (ish) dry... Checkrate/Likes Chris, Thank you. My Mieles and my Creda are able to wash and rinse large loads well. I am just thinking back to the BIG American combos of my youth with their large drums. Our 27" Philco Duomatic had a smallish drum. It would easily wash a set of King bed sheets and pillowcases, but they were best dried one at a time. With the 24" diameter drum in the 36" Duomatic, the whole load could be dried at one time. My 29" Kenmore combo easily dried the load it washed. My interest in the Fagor is only academic at this time. I hope. I would love to see one in operation though.

Checkrate/Likes *Fair enough....* ....but don't forget that 10lb is 4kg... Hoover Australia made front load machines until the mid 1990's that were rated at 4kg....and in the back of the user manual stated that this represented: 8 x cotton single bed sheets....which is about 4 x king bed sheets....
