I was hoping....

Whirlpool would put in a bid. I can't speak for no one but myself, but i hope WP lands Maytag. WP still knows how to do laundry no matter what many detractors might say.

It's better to see them taken by a U.S. manufacturer than what? HAIER????

.......then again

Maytag appliances will probably be produced in asia anyway. Sad!

Maybe the acquisition would start a new "Maypool" corporation. Its first new development could be a new top load machine with a helical wig-wag transmission.

I'd be happy with a new design that didn't have short fast strokes creating havoc on laundry. Speed Queen has done it, so why can't the company that started this ultra fast, short stroke design.

If Whirlpool takes over the Tag-line they will suck up a huge debt that has occurred, 165 million in the rear. But in reality that is pennies on the dollar when you eliminate the compitions so in the long run, there will be the top five plus an one old timer (Speed Queen).

Now we are in a new race to build better machines that use less water with increase performances that premium washers like Miele and Bosch shares.

Now looking into the future looking back, it would be great to see these new line of washers with chrome and lighted dash, retro but efficient with bluetooth technolgy to program the washer from a home computer for the wash and spin cycle to our likings!!!

Whirltag/Maypool

Yes, I would rather Whirlpool took over Maytag than Haier. Haier makes CHEAP stuff. That is what it is coming to with airlines, banks, etc. one merger after the other so that there will be less competition. We will be left with only a few banks, fewer appliances companies, fewer airlines, etc.

that would be REAL nice, but what are the odds? Even if they did, it would be made of plastic and not the real thing. Somehow the minutes to cycle end on some of today's models doesn't do it for me...love the lights on the classics!

Dance around the Maypool

Let's hope that WP adopts the Maytag Dependable Care system and mass produces THAT instead of the DD mechanism.

Whirltag
Kentag
Maypool
Maymore? (no, too silly)

So now Hetties will come in 3 flavors...

Kenmore Elite, WP Duet, and Maytag Neptune

What will this be called?

NETTIES!

Coincidentally, Nettie is my mom's name.

Yes, I had my Starbucks this morning, hence the silliness.

Ladyyyyy.... of the morninnnngg...

Serious question

Can these DD units actually be made to have longer strokes? I know it probably could be done, but i am not very technical and this is still very new and fascinates me the more i read.

Is it all in the gearing in the tranny?

You would think it would be possible to slow down and lengthen the strokes on DD transmissions.I could envision a primary transmission to slow down the motor speed(does the job of the belt and pulley)and gearing inside the agitate transmission to lenghten the agitator stroke.
