Hello!

My friend has a Whirlpool AWM328. Today, they put a load on Cottons 40c. Half way through the wash cycle, it stopped dead, just the lights on, no tumbling action at all. They turned it off and back on, and it caried on. However, it didn't appear to of heated at all because the door glass was cold instead of warm like it usually is. Then, on the first rinse, it overfilled slightly. It seems to be behaving strangely all of a sudden.

Any ideas?

When I was having troubles with my Neptune where it was acting up, it turned out to be the board, replaced it and no more problem.PRESTO! Just a thought, and or sometimes with my very old (1976) sometimes it will have, the techinical term," Appliance Alsheimers" Most of time it works flawlessly.Other times, I will see it with the clock all mixed up, I unpug it, Flawless. I have thought that I would replace the Radarange, I could not part with it.

I owned the same machine i think.

Is that Whirlpool the Aspirations 1200? i had same prob once and had new board in, (wish i didnt) as it went mad on turning.

The machine even on cottons 40 worked fine one time but never heated throughout and as we used powder back in the day, it was all over the clothes afrer final spin, thats when we got the Aquarious WF220 Hotpoint to replace it.

AWM328 was one of the Inspirations models. There were lower specced Creations & Solutions models, aswell as ones just badged 'Whirlpool'.

I have heard of strange behaviour, such as the program dial spinning round by itself mentioned quite alot on this range & would agree with what has been said previously regarding the control board wearing out.

The Inspirations look very well equipped though, would probably keep it going if it were mine. Lots of program options (intensive rinse, energy saver etc) and 1200spin i believe aswell. Not bad at all for their time.

Matching dryers & diswashers available too - i always wanted the whole set - greedy boy! :S

the 1200 spin is ace as well as i advanced the spin to the 800 stage as the quick wash button didnt really work on the whirlpool, it was 2nd hand too from a rental place it spun at 1200 for a nice amount of time.

Yes, it is good machine. Although the balance sensor is rubbish. It has jumped before!

Today, They put a load of whites on, not overloaded. It stopped as soon as it clicked half way through the main wash again, and it slightly overfilled on the rinses again. It refuses to heat. The door glass is cold. It is supposed to heat to 40c and the glass is usually warm.

Hi, this sort of problem could be the thermister which senses the water temperature if a fault is found by the main PCB the program may stop or skip the heating stages, my tricity bendix had one which became faulty and the program would skip right to the stop point which was strange to see the dial turning no stop to stop.

The programme will stop until the start button is pressed, then it will continue. The only thing is, they have to remember to come in half way through and press 'Start'. That defeats the point of an automatic washer lol.
