My mother used Salvo in her 65 Speed Queen. Nice Maytag in the pic. |

We had a GE FL combo when I was growing up. Had to use low sudsing detergent, and Salvo fit the bill-- low sudsing and great aroma. Still one of my favorite vintage detergent scents. Jim |

Tom: You are right! Bleach used to come in those brown glass jugs. I had forgotten about those! When were they last used? About 1962 or so? |

I miss Salvo. One of the best smelling detergents ever. Good cleaning too. |

My mom used Salvo for a while, usually breaking the tablet in two for our 1965 FL Westinghouse. Sometimes they would crumble instead of breaking cleanly. Still remember the pleasant smell. I believe she then started using Wisk in it for a short time before getting the Maytag in '73. |

Used Salvo in our V-12 GE. She put them in the Filter Flow Pan and they never dissolved At the end of the final spin, there would be a chunk left in the Filter Flo pan or stuck to the clothes. Did she re-rinse them ? NO. Hmmmmmmmmmm... Maybe that would explain the rash everyone had until she stopped using them, LOL |
