hello everyone

so here i go...
i put a load of cottons about 5kg on cottons 40oc in the morning, it ran through the prewash well, then in the wash it started clunking, strange noises etc.

Now, i ahd an update done last year which gave my machine a new control board which meant the contraroration was swithced off, but today the back drum was contrarorating and the front drum was moving slower???

so i got the clothes out and wringed them in the sink, then washed them in a 16pounder ipso at the launderette which has really pooooor spinning.

rang dyson, womean says it upto the descretion of the engineer to charge £95 or for free.

i ahve also seen a hoover new wave plus 5 1500spin which mum is interested in

what do i do???

please help

thanks

Not got experience with Dyson.....

but if the New Wave is the one near Bury on eBay, it looks very good to me.

Id have it myself but it's too far for me to go unfortunately, so would be good to see it go to someone who'll look after it :)

Liam

I'm sorry, what is the charge for? NOT service, I hope. That is too dear a price. I wonder what would have happened if you had not been there to stop it? Have you tried to run it empty to see how the destruction progresses?

Hi
Dyson2drums
It really is taking the p*ss the amount the manufacturers charge just to step through your front door, most charge over £100!.

Hope you manage to get it sorted anyway.

Another thing, (final rant) Dyson are taking the p*ss with these machines, ther unique selling point was there contra-rotating drum.
Every single dyson washing machine i have seen has had this disabled by there engineers!.

No wonder they stopped production of washing machines.

hello aquarius 1984

i havent beidded yet, and not going to, hope you get it, enjoy using it, and please do let us know when you do some videos.

Thats the maximum for parts and labour (everything), tried different programs etc, no luck, the same. Dysons price isn't that bad, but as its maybe a drum problem etc, they may not be able to fix it as they're discontinued, i know someone from youtube who had a cr01 and he got given £250 or something as his tub was gone and it was making loud noises.

The wash performance is the same though, excellent till today, never gave me any trouble except today...

thanks guys and aquarius 1984 good luck with the bidding on the newwave

If you do happen to pick a new wave up dyson2drums you wouldn't be disapointed. You have to respect the machine from it first rolling out in 1993 it would still rival many of todays basic electronic efforts. The spinwash was truely awesome to watch aswell as the front fill and beautiful design. Having had 2 newwaves i can still firmly say it remains my in my top 5 of favourite machines.

Prehaps you may find one closer to you that someone hasn't staked claim to. even though it is an auction site.

Darren.

yeah, as you already know darren i've been after a newwave ever since i knew about them, as none of my cosins had ne, a friend had one but i never saw it in action.

i'm sure i wouldn't be disappointed as it's just so amazing that machine, spinwash, front fill, decnt programs, rinsing, high speed spins plus features like speed wash etc.

lets hope i find one nearer to me, that's if we have space as me and mum are still in discussion about what to do:
1)repair dyson fi possible or
2)get a machine off ebay which is good (like a new wave as i've always wanted one but never had space to do so) or
3) get a brand new one (mum knows most machines nowadays are not as good as they used to be so not doubt that will happen)

Thanks darren

i have 2 loads already built up as i was expecting to do one today and one tommorow, so need a washing machine, aunts on holiday so can't even use hers.

Mum's thinking of getting something off ebay, she's been surfing ebay herself for a washing machine without me lol
She's seen a zanussi jetsystem 1250 fjs model, and she's also looking at the new wave, although aquarius 1984 is wanting it, i just said mum we'll see what happens tommorow.

wish me luck with getting a new washing machine.

thanks guys

Dyson

I can tell people that Dyson pulled out of the market some 3 ti 4 years ago due to unreliability problems and they were loosing money, Dyson Quitley dropped out of the market

yes, it was quite a while back, it cost them too much to make the washing machines, so made a loss.
This is stated on the dyson website, as far as i remember.

BTW- engineer is coming on wednesday am.

dyson2drums.....

Hope the engineer doesn't bring too much bad news.

£53 sounds quite alot, but alot of older machines seem to be highly valued now because they last so much better than the latest offerings.

A Zanussi such as the Jetsystem XC range would make a decent used buy im sure. Though like Darren said, if you need a machine you should just bid on one if you like it. From experience, being overly nice in life seldom brings the rewards it ought to! eBay is for everyone.

Liam.

Thanks Liam, the engineer has just left, and said the motors need replacing now as they have never been replaced and are a bit worn, plus the problem for the rattling wierd noises was that the drum was the planet carrier assembly that needs replacing, due to be all done on monday.

everyone's happy as theres no other machine which can wash that capacity, unless we buy the 11kg LG which also has the 78litre drum. :P

Plus the wash performance is excellent, spinning is excellent, rinsing is excellent for my very sensitive skin. Don't think newer machines would be as robust or as good, unless it's a miele etc.

Thanks everyone, the first breakdown ever, not so bad news afterall!

:)

Forgot to say, was the same engineer that comes to my house, and grans so knows me well. Used to come fix our dysondc07allergy and do updates on our washing machine.

But going to have to use the LG for the weekend as it'll be fixed on monday, hate LG's rinsing and spinning isn't as good and takes far too long, over 2 hours for a full load with time save.

Thanls again everyone.
