Well, it is time to make some more room so I am going to pare down my collection of spare dishwashers.
I want you guys to have first crack at it before placing it on Craigslist.

I am looking for a good home for my KDC-21D machine shown below.
This is the same machine as the I series in that it has the adjustable upper rack with the flex-o dividers.
Cycles are Pot/Pans, Normal, Light/China and Rinse and Hold.

The machine is in very good condition and runs perfectly.
Make me an offer I cannot refuse and the deal will be done.
I know anyone from here who decides they want it will give it a proper home and will be very happy with it as a daily driver.

Get this dishwasher!

I got a Custom 21 not too long ago and I LOVE IT! The upper wash arm is my favorite feature. It makes loading easier as you don't have to 'allow' room for a central spray arm and it gets all the dishes up top clean. The only thing is on the bottom rack, make sure your items aren't too tall. They can block the upper wash arm from rotating.

Mine doesn't have the adjustable rack but that's a good feature to have.

After having several newer machines with dismal performance, the Custom 21 is a refreshing change. It's an exciting feeling to open the door and see your dishes sparkling clean.

Get this machine!

Tim, what you need is...

The China Guard under the top rack!
Some of the lower end models did not have the China Guard so tall items in the lower rack could sometimes prevent the upper wash arm from turning. For the life of me, I cannot understand why today's manufacturers still leave the upper arms unprotected and prone to blockage.

If you ever see a machine on the curb, grab the racks and install the upper one in your machine especially if it is the adjustable one. That is one of the step up features of the D models which took all the optional features of the higher end models and included them in the custom models.

I will see if I have a lone china guard that you can add to your rack as the racks were all of the same basic construction. If I find one, I will email you and let you know

Steve

China Guard...

Tim, just wanted to let you know that I have the china guard for the rack if you want to put it on your machine. It will insure that nothing in the bottom rack will stop the upper arm from spinning.
Let me know.

Too bad Whirlpool and most of the other mfrs. didn't think of including this in their designs!

Going, Going,

But not gone YET!
I haven't been able to sell this unit yet on Craigslist so if there is anyone who wants it, let me know and we will see what kind of a deal we can come up with!

This seems nearly identical to my Imperial of the same vintage. What are the differences in these machines? Lack of "Quiet Scrub" and maybe the china guard on the Customs? My Imperial wasn't exactly quiet even with "Quiet Scrub," but otherwise the panel options seem to be the same.

I loved mine and it served me without a single problem for 18 years. I presume it's still doing a fine job for the person who bought our house a couple of years ago.

It is the "D" model

Which means it came with the deluxe racks which are like the Superba and Imperials as well as the Pots and Pans cycle. I have a standard Custom model at my Mother In Law's place and it lacks that cycle.

Should I put a "reserved for Bob" label on it?

My aunt and uncle have this same dishwasher with the black panels installed. Their house was built in 1983. It almost 27 years old and, to my knowledge, has never had to be fixed! Somebody on here who needs a good, reliable dishwasher should grab this!
