The machines were very much like KA,..yes i know WP already had KA at the time, late 80's, but after the early 90's they just dissapeared. Were in sink erator machines around before the WP aquisition of KA?

Rebadged KitchenAid

I thought I heard or read one time that In-Sink-Erator dishwashers were rebadged KitchenAids manufactured by Hobart and later by Whirlpool. It'd be neat to see an In-Sink-Erator machine, actually, since the brand is synonymous with garbage disposers.

you sure they're gone?

My father purchased a replacement InSinkErator at Lowe's last summer. The website below seems to suggest that the brand is alive and well. Agree, the name is synonymous with garbage disposals.

Truth be told!

I did not find this myself, but rather another member posted this link to the court case involving the sale if KitchenAid to Whirlpool.
You will see why and how In-sink-erator came out with their own line of Hobart copycat machines which had some great features and styling! Do I need to mention that they were great machines as they were direct coppies of Hobart designs and progressed along the same lines even using the WP Power module pumps in their last iterations.

And as was pointed out above, They are very much alive in the disposer business both domestic and commercial.
Makes for some good reading if you are into the history of the whole sale!

I S E DISHWASHERS

I S E dishwashers of the KA style did not come about until WP bought KA from Dart&kraft the owners of KA appliances in aprox 1986. Selling ISE DWs which were made in the same plant that KAs was just a scam that WPs lawyers cooked up to try a avoid an antitrust lawsuit by GE Wwestinghouse Magic Chef etc.that might have blocked the sale of KA to WP. WP was woirred about this because this sale would give WP more than 50% of the DW market. ISE had also sold two WP made machines in the late 1970s through the early 1980s one was the BAGER smiler to a WP SDU3000 the other was a CLASSIC SUPREME smiler to a WP SDU5000 these did not sell well but were very good machines. ISE also sold WP built trash compactors after they stopped build thier own compactor. The KA built machines however sold very well smart independent appliance dealers would put a KA next to a ISE DW and with almost a $100 dollar difference in ISE favor alot of ISEs were sold. We were a factory ISE service agent for almost 20 years we worked on hundreds of ISEs here in washington DC.After about 6 years WP stopped the whole chard and dropped the ISE DW line.

ISE dishwasher

We have friends that had an ISE dishwasher in their last house. It was indeed a KitchenAid inside. I think it came from 1987 or so. It was nice looking in black and chrome and performed really well.

Interesting. We installed an instant hot water dispenser at the kitchen sink where we used to live. IIRC, the first one was ISE brand. It developed a leak in the tank after several years so I bought an identical replacement, but that one was an Emerson. I remember the logos looking similar, and I may have the sequence backwards, but there was definitely an ISE/Emerson connection.

I've never seen an ISE dishwasher but it's good to know they're basically 80's KitchenAids.

impression that in sink erator was made by emerson electric in wisconsin, racine i believe. i put my first one in back in 1972 and i remember phyllis diller used to advertise them back in the late 60's or early 70's. i know in sink erator has been around since then.

in fact i looked at one the other day at work for a customer and it still says emerson elec on the box?

i am curious if anyone has anything to share on this?!
