Westinghouse bought the Conover Corp's design for a dishwasher to get the front loading dishwasher. They first showed it at the 1939 World's Fair. In the post WWII years WH dishwashers were pull out tub design machines. They even offered a portable model that had a wheel on on the front of the tub to support it when it was pulled out of the cabinet. Their next front loading machine was introduced around 1964 or 65. Hotpoint introduced their front loading dishwasher in 1941.
