It's gas with that access door and the way they moved the front legs to the edge of the cabinet to provide stability with the weight of the gas burner at the front. There was a model just above it with the light between the top of the machine and the control panel. It did not shine as far, but did not blind you by shining right in your eyes the way this one does because of the way the control panel is slanted back.

In 1970 my Uncle Kell and Aunt Julie lived in a mobile home in Pascagoula, MS that was 3 or 4 years old at the time. This home had a GE washer and electric dryer that match the one shown, except it was an unusual shaded Aqua color. I have no idea what GE called this, as it definately wasn't their earlier Turquoise, but a little more blue than green. I know Whirlpool had Edged Sapphire at about this time, but have never seen this on any other GE product. I suppose it could have been an exclusive for the mobile home manufacturer, but doubt they would have gone to any extra expense for such. Does anyone here remember GE having such a color?
