as you may remember John & I have been working on that machine for upwards of 20 years now. It still needs more work so we agreed that I will bring it down to Washington and we will finish it together and finish one of his Combos at the same time ,some time this spring.
This has been the hardest longest restore I have ever given a machine. I hauled it off a scrap pile 25 years ago and it still needs help. But it is a good machine and I trust will be worth my expertise in the long haul.

Congratulations

The thing about Speed Queen, is when you buy a new one (washer or dryer) they are made of such high quality that it's almost like getting a brand new "vintage" machine in a box. Does this make sense?

I am looking forward to the boosted heat function. I fell in love with this model last summer at Jeff's house when they all forced me to Ironrite drunk!
I had a white linen shirt that got melted chocolate and tea all down the front since I was driving too fast down I-95 to DC in 90 degree weather.
Well we put that sucker in on the heat boost cycle and BOOM BOM Done stains all gone shining white linen. Thats what sold me.
But I did my virgin regular load last nite and MAN o MAN is this thing quite. All you hear is the tumble of the clothes and splash of the water.
Heat boost coming up, have to go buy a chip for my new camcorder and learn how to use the thing.
Will keep you posted on Speed Queening in Melrose.

Yes

jetcone's profile picture
It would Louis, I am just now learning my new Camcorder so Dr F can present a full cycle video, his first!

I have done three virgin loads already. One was heat boosted. It performed admirably but I haven't hit it with any stains yet. I am a little leary that the water level is too LOW on this model, 2 1/2 gallons a fill. The clothes almost look dry like Robert is always saying just a Wet NAp between them.
Jeff's machine fills higher so I may do some tweaking under the hood which would mean some nudie shots for the club.

But I should refrain for now and as we say in applianceworld "go with the flo"!

2 1/2 gallons a fill

foraloysius's profile picture
Is that empty? Or is that with the laundry in it? When there is laundry in it does it fills several times more after the initial fill? 2 1/2 gallons a fill sounds very little, I think even my frontloaders use more in a wash. Is there water running down the window when it washes?

I have watched only 3 loads but I can tell you. The fill time appears the same even when I loaded 5 bath towels as a wash.
So I really think it is only filling 2 1/2 gallons on every wash. The towels disturbed me as they looked almost dry tumbling. But everything has come out clean so far.

ON wash there is a "sheet" of water down the glass; I wouldn't say it is running down more like sliding as things tumble. Its just enough that there appears wetness. There is certainly NO sloshing of any kind! Foam is almost non existent. Actually the highest foam I got was using ALL 3x CONCENTRATE and the heat boost cycle but by the first rinse it was gone.

I will try to video a load this week with my new camera so you can see how dry this machine actually is.

You must be using the "Damp" cycle.

Did you put the 5 towels into a Frigidaire for "rinsing proof"?

Jon

as I guess you're (at least) as addicted as me, I bet you had been staring at her since the start until the last spin ended, to know all the tale :)

So :

- during the towel load main wash, did the machine fill again after the initial fill, say within the first 5-10 minutes?
I mean as soon towels started saturating and the leve dropped, did she fill again ?

- what about rinse level ? same or higher ?

I guess GE (GE-made KM, isn't she ?) actually used such a low level to cope with contemporary detergents - here another guess - low sudsing HE things still had to come

No need to say she's a beauty

Post# 421814 , Reply# 40   3/10/2010 at 15:03 (5,131 days old) by favorit ()
"I think even my frontloaders use more in a wash"

Louis, that's true in case of a full load on boilwash/coloureds. But the actual wash level without load is round the same 8-10 litres (i assume a gallon is almost 4 litres)

Try this :

- take away the drain hose from the wall drain, put it in a mop bucket

run your novotronic (W 715 ?) or the sensortronic (6953 ?) without load on boilwash. Stop, reset and start "drain only"
You won't fill the 10 litre bucket

As both your machines have the eco ball valve I guess they use almost the same level of current ones .... the "difference" is that your machines set with *no option* rinse better than current machines set without water+

True, both of them are round early nineties, but their tech look 20 years forward compared my 1984 W780 sensor (that works more close to the W423)

Guess that 1985 - 1995 has been the most significative decade for both european washers and dishwashers

Mike, the one at Bob's in Ohio was the early version (small door) that he's raised the water level on. He's been saving one for me and I'm going to have it shipped out here in the next couple of weeks - I can't wait!

The newer version of the SQ has a larger door opening and does use a bit less water. Like Jason said, this can be adjusted for "personal user preference" so I'll bet that's what Jon will do --AFTER the Atomic Proof test is done!

How long is the wash cycle on boosted hot ?
It would be nice if all manufactures give the customer a choice of a high water level option like euro washers.
Enjoy your new machine.

last week!!

Actually the combo goes back on the bench for repairs and the other two machines are out of here in april to CA. I am holding them for revvinkevin.

favorit the washer fills once and only once 2 1/2 gallons! There is no additional fill after tumbulation starts. Its a real skimper!

The boosted wash can add anywhere from 24-48 minutes to the cycle. regular hot wash is 24 minutes.

Speed Queen Fill

mrb627's profile picture
Load saturation begins with the nozzle over the door before water begins flowing through the dispenser. I have found that clothing is properly saturated by the end of the fill cycle. However, it would be a nice option to have a little more water added for increased sloshing. While water usage is certainly frugal, the SQ is not the stingiest machine out there.

Amana WFC7500VW 24" frontloader & matching dryer

#1 "That's because it isn't made by Whirlpool" .....USA but by **Whirlpool Europe**. round 5-10 year old design

The matching dryer is not WP made. They outsource it from antoniomerloni.it, as they do with the 24" Inglis frontloader

The odd thing ASKO has never made a washer-dryer all-in-one combo.
They actually are made by the owner company antoniomerloni.it.
The line on the upper part of the door frame is a merloni signature

Although there are some long videos already there, YouTube won't any more take vids longer than 10 minutes playtime regardless of the file size. A workaround is by splitting long material into multiple clips, Part 1 of 5, part 2 of 5, etc.

My last post was the wrong model #

mark_wpduet's profile picture
I copied and pasted the wrong model #....I meant to post this model # as having a HIGHER water factor than the larger Duets and a smaller size at the same time. It was
AmanaŽ 3.5 cu. ft. Front-Load Washer Model: NFW7200TW

It is made by Whirlpool....Since all the most of the Maytag, Amanas and Duets' are made by Whirlpool, I wonder why they all have different water factors? I would think the Amana would have the lowest since it's the smallest. Perhaps it's higher because the tub is smaller?

Jon - when you start generating some traffic (i.e. revenue for YT), they don't give a rats butt on how long it is :D

I'm not sure what their fuzzy logic is, but it seems when I hit 10+ videos and had over 50,000 views, my time limit magically went away, and I could upload a 2GB flick!

Until then, you're just a noob.
