I found this video on youtube after watching some I Love Lucy clips. Apparently Westinghouse was a new sponser for them, and there's a 3 and a half minute commercial with Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel. From the signs in the back ground, this was done in 1959.

That first clip was pretty funny. "What's a built-in program computer, Betty?" LOL.

Lucy Clips

You're right, Strongenough 78: The commercial was from a 1959 edition of "Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse," which premiered on CBS in the fall of 1958. It was an hour-long anthology series with drama and comedy, plus hour-long "I Love Lucy" episodes with big-name stars. It spawned two long-running series:
"Twilight Zone" came to life after the "Playhouse" aired Rod Serling's drama "The Time Element" in 1958. And a 1959 two-parter on "Playhouse" called "The Untouchables" was the basis of the series that premiered in the fall of '59 on ABC. But it was the "Lucy" episodes that kept the show's ratings afloat.
"Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse" ended its run in 1960, after Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz's divorce.
The color clip of Lucy and Desi talking about Westinghouse was actually a film made especially for Westinghouse dealers after the company agreed to sponsor "Desilu Playhouse." (It never aired on television, but the promo film is available in several "Lucy" DVD packages.) Written by the "Lucy" series scribes, it featured the cast in a plot surrounding Lucy's desire to buy new Westinghouse appliances for her dressing room at Desilu Studios (the old RKO Studios which Arnaz purchased in late 1957). It was shot in black and white (you may have a colorized version), but it also featured a helicopter tour of the new Desilu complex and a number of props from old RKO films such as "King Kong." Arnaz is also seen discussing his plans for big name stars and writers to get involved in "Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse."

When did they colorize the commercial. This commercial is at the end of a Lucy's lost episodes video that was my mom's. I just love all those old appliances.

My Aunt Nat had the 1958 Sp[ace mates washer and dryer stacked in her basement next to the double concrete sink the washer drained into. Two of the fond memories I have of them are the one time the dryer was in need of repair. My cousin,Tracey, had put a half full bowl of Fruit Loops in the broken dryer. I had no idea it was not working right and seeing the bowl in there,I removed it and went to start the dryer.Sparks flew everywhere and I was about 7 years old so,I screamed getting everybody's attention and m,y Aunt freaked out when she saw the sparks. She turned it off and went back to watching her program. The second dram was when I wondered if the washer would keep running with the door open like our Easy Rivera did.It was in the wash cycle and she used Lemon Fab Detergent.I opened the door just as Aunt Nat walked in to lay more dirty clothes down for the next load. Water and suds and some of the "dainties" went gushing out and she closed the door, turned the washer off and reloaded the clothes, hit my hand and said "you're real lucky your Uncle Mel isn't here!"LOL

If you buy the "Final Seasons" disc (seasons 7,8, and 9) - it shows the entire film on there in black and white (original), including a message from Desi on how they hope to increase the sales of Westinghouse appliances for all their dealers.

And They Also Did Commercials For Ford

Lucy & Desi's Commercials

When "I Love Lucy" began in 1951, Lucy and Desi did the spots for the show's original sponsor, Phillip Morris cigarettes. By the fall of 1955, the Arnazes were promoting the products of their new sponsors, Proctor & Gamble (Lilt home permanents) and General Foods (Sanka coffee). In the final 1956-57 season, Ford sponsored a few episodes of "Lucy" to promote its new retractable hardtop model, and the couple did at least one commercial to show how the top opened and closed. Vivian Vance and Bill Frawley also did a singing commercial for the regular 1957 Ford line, to the tune of a then-popular Guy Mitchell song, "Singing The Blues."
Ford became the sponsor of the first season hour-long "Lucy" shows in the fall of 1957 (official title: "The New Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show.") But due to the economic recession and the failure of its new Edsel model, Ford dropped out as sponsor after one season; it was Desi Arnaz who persuaded Westinghouse's president (an "I Love Lucy" fan) to back his plan for an anthology series featuring the hour-long "Lucy" episodes. That led to "Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse," which ran for two seasons until the official end of the Arnaz marriage.
Of course, Lucy, Desi, Vivian and Bill were on hand promoting Ford and/or Westinghouse products for the hour-long shows.
