I was at the marina with my girlfriend, she has a classic Glastron GT 160 (See James Bond "Live & Let die" for a picture of one!) While I was putting her boat in the water, another boater pulled up with a vintage boat in tow that she immeditely struck up a conversation with. The boat's manufacturer was Speed Queen! The logo on the side looked just like the script seen on the washers back in the fifties, and said "all fiberglass" just below the script. The owner of the boat didn't know any of the history of the boat's manufacturer, but knew the nameplate was also used for washing machines, or know of any connection between the boat and the washers. At first, I thought it was a previous owner's customization. Since people frequently give boats their own name, Someone could have named the boat the "Speed queen" and taken the logos off of a washer. Upon closer look, and chatting with the owner, the nameplates were placed on it at the factory, and he's regestered it with the coast guard with that as the manufacturer's name!

Looks like it was made by

Glastex....

Here is the closest versions of the logos I could find, looks different. I don't think this had anything to do with the washer company, but who knows...some more knowledgable people here might weigh in....
