My partner and I needed to replace our 20lb Magic Chef washing machine and crappy Kenmore dryer that he brought into our new home last October. So January we decided to see what we could get and ended up at Home Depot. Well just to see if I could qualify, I applied for a Home Depot Credit card and got one with $1000 credit. I was shocked and thrilled so I went to the appliance section and they had a GE stack set for $499.00 washer and $499.00 dryer. Not the best but good enough for us. It was on sale for just a few more days but I did not have enough to cover taxes and stuff so I scraped up the cash and went back a couple days later. Talked to the nice looking young man and he said the set was out of stock and they had replaced it with an upgraded model. I said Ok lets see that. They replaced it with models that were $899 each and were giving to us at $499 each. So far so good. Only problem is it would be 6 weeks before we could get them. I said Ok and went to pay for them. Got to the cashier with the paperwork and the cashier said "Oh you get 10% off your first purchase!" So all I had to come up with was 6 bucks to cover what the credit card didn't. Last week I got a call from GE and they said that if I wanted the set in silver instead of white, they could keep the delivery date. Well silver was at least $50-$100 extra so I said Ok. Now we have a nice new GE stack set for $1000 instead of almost $2000. I don't think I could have planned that.

Great looking machine, dont know too much about the build quality. I just hope you and your man are happy with it and it gives you both years of fault free washing.

Congatulations

You got a phenominal deal, I can't believe you got that washer for $499, AMAZING!!!!! Best of luck to you. I think you made a wise choice for the price. I personally believe GE has the best after-purchase serivce in the NY tri-state area. I have not once in all the years I had owned GE appliances ever had any problems with service.
P.S. Wait until your machine is 11 months old, then call GE and buy an extended warranty, it is probably cheaper than Home Depot's price. Best of luck to you both,
Mike

Good luck Joe. Will be curious to hear how you like it and how it performs.
