That's the most atypical GE console I've ever seen. Love it, though!

It's a beatiful machine. I passed up a white washer once and have been kicking myself ever since. I know where a matching coppertone set are, but the owner will not part with them.

It has a timeline-type timer, with wash cycle options on the left. One knob is water level, the other is a cold water key. The tub is aqua with evenly spaced perforations, an aqua clothes guard, black ramp Activator with aqua Filter Flo pan. The washer in the POD shows the first Mini Basket, which was truly very mini.

I have seen pictures of this model

in LIFE Magazine from 1963. I don't think this style ran too long....but it's a beauty.

1964 was the first year for that console, and it lasted either 3 or 4 years - typical for GE at that time. The mini-basket was introduced in 1962 and they claimed it had a 2-lb capacity. Mini indeed!

really progressive

I like the styling although it is a bit unclear to me what all the console controls are. It appears in the center there is cycle progress lights but the larger knob doesn't really look like a timer knob then does it? It almost appears to have an auto advancing timer which would be so cool. But I can't think of any GE washers that had auto-advancing timers.
Also that bleach dispenser on the Front of the machine is so sleek. I can only imagine how that is connected in.

I've never seen or at least recognized this machine.

Thanks Robert for the new twist in the ever expanding Washing Machine saga!

Steve, no, it wasn't an auto advance timer. The biggest knob you used to set the wash time selection. The bleach was a 30-day supply resevoir. That dispenser tilted out and you poured the bottle of bleach in there. When a bleach wash was done, there was a little "bulb" you pumped and measured the bleach (kinda like a percolator's little water display to show how many cups). I'm not sure exactly how the bleach was released, never got to play with one. But it did go to the bottom of the outer tub.

That is the first up close picture i have seen of this machine from the front. Very nicely styled machine. Just another example of beautiful console styling manufacturers were putting out at the time.
