Um, seriously?
The Gyromatic would be a 1956. I love that it has the magic heater - what I would consider one of the coolest washers made in the 50's. I've got a beautiful DD Kenmore that would be a fantastic trade .... ;-) The colors on the Lady K buttons are perfect. I imagine it would be difficult to color coordinate any kitchen to match those hues! And it is new.... uggg... Ben |

Were you dropped on your head as a kid??? Wow, wow, wow!
The Bendix set alone is a wonderful find BUT that dishwasher... I think you're gonna have the RotoRack boys all worked up into a lather! Awesome! So when is it going into your kitchen? I'll bet the proper color panels are in that color pak. And if you say 'no, it's not', I'll stand back as the thundering herd books flights for So.Cal... LOL! RCD BTW, is that box of Cascade as solid as a brick or what? ;') |

That DW would be about a 1966 model. Our family got our first DW that year we got the mid level KM DW. This was probably the last somewhat good D & M machine before they went to the taller door. I figured in the 10 years we had that machine I replaced almost every part of it except the tank and the racks even the inner door rusted out and was replaced. Its really neat you found one in new condition it may be the only one left it really brought back memories seeing the inside. They also made this machine in a 240 volt version where the pink hi temp button heated the second wash and the final rinse to 180 instead of 145 degrees.

Umm, probably... but I have not broken the tape holding it to the rack to check it! As you can see in the photo... there was ALSO a "Sample box" of Finish AND what looks to be a Jet Dry bottle in there too! Owners Manual? Yes I thought the same thing too when I saw that manila envelope in there! I removed it and brought it in the house, carefully opening it in anticipation, only to find........... papers on the design and operation of some sort of fuel saving device for a car, dated from 1984. Geeze, what a disappointment! |

Those are quite a Bendii Pair. The dishwasher is quite fancy too. Amazing that it was never "fired up". Time for another "pink hotdogs" washin!!!! |

The more I look at the photo, the more I think the dryer is not the "matching" dryer. Oh well, close enough! LOL Ben, Thank you for dating the Bendix washer! The lever on the front of it, what does it do? I mean, I know it unlocks the door when you push it one direction, but it also moves the other direction too, what does that do, lock the door or maybe start the machine? |

My stars that's a pretty "almost" pair. A little TLC and they'll be awesome. I wonder, could the buyer's remorse have anything to do with lack of lighted panels? Shhh, they'll get their feelin's hurt!! |

Finding this Lady Kenmore dishwasher was a TOTAL surprise. After looking at the Bendix set, I took a look at an old Philco fridge (a bottom freezer model, probably late 40's or early 50's(?) and already sold) in the back of the storage unit. The dishwasher was in front of it with the front panel facing the wall. There was just enough room to open the door and peek inside. When I did I first saw the Roto-rack and THEN the box of Cascade still taped to the lower rack. I thought "OMG, IT'S NEVER BEEN USED!" and "I HAVE to grab this too!" Obviously I did! I spoke with the elderly woman about a price for all three. It ended up being higher then I really wanted (part of my buyers remorse), but I thought, OK, it will help her out since her husband of 61 years recently died. On the rest of the "buyers remorse"... that's just me. As I was driving home I was thinking about the restoration of the Bendix set and how parts it probably needs are probably not obtainable anywhere. I'm sure as the week progresses those thoughts will dissipate. I'm sure I'll work through it.... with all of your help and support! So thank you to all of you for your positive comments, they are definatly helping. I will have other photos once I can unload them from my truck and clean them up a bit. Kevin |

This machine is a US model its 230-240 60 cycle. I wish we had made more 240 volt machines I think this would be a good answer to these damn new dishwashers that run for two hours. If you get the heat up faster and get the job done in 45 minutes it would have to use less electricity than keeping the whole machine hot and running the motor for two hours, to say nothing of much less wear & tare on the motor & pump seals and vinyl rack coatings.

What a great find! I don't know, I'd be hard pressed on the dishwasher, Do I power it up or do I leave it in it's virgin condition. Odds are I'd breakdown and use it, but it would be a challenge. Odds are it's the only one of it's kind -unused that is... |

The Bendix washer and dryer, even though not necessarily a matched set are rare enough, but that unused LadyK 230V dishwasher is just awesome!! Congratulations on a major rescue operation here!! I can't wait to see more about them all - have fun and make us all proud!! Congratulations!!!

Robert had asked about the tub/door/boot/seal. Actually it's intact! When I rubbed my hand around it the upper area felt a little "grainy" but the lower part felt pretty good. So here is a pic of the tub boot from the inside. As you can see, some cracking. I don;t know how it would hold up with use tho.... |

If there were any coins in the lint trap Kevin see the one with the latest year, that is a basic indication of the last time it was used.
Also the pump is probably gummed up, pour really hot water down the drain hose, then manually try and turn the pulley to free it. Once its free, plug it back in and try it. |

A couple things I noticed in your photos.
This has to be 55 machine that is the older style door boot, they changed the opening in 56 on all the machines. The boots I have fit the later style. The only modern boot that fits this is the small door Speed Queen so I'd get one of those on hand pronto. Also I'd start rubbing that door boot down with glycerin on both sides of the boot, it just might bring it back. You can get that at any Drugstore. Also on the motor, you say it buzzes, these machines used the notorious Delco motors and they have the same problem as Frigidiare's, the start switch sticks, doesnt' cut out and burns the windings by over heating. I'd lube the front motor bearing there should be a lube hole drilled in the top of the shaft behind the pump. If you have one of those pin lube tubes you can get it in there, you might even get to lube the shaft of the start switch. Robert had an article on this switch here many many moons ago. Once the start switch is moving then I'd run the motor. The shocks I am surprised they are as loose as you describe. The tub should move freely in the cabinet but it shouldn't bounce or oscillateit should damp out quickly. I think mother bendix has said enough today! Have fun with it. jon |
