I posted about problems I've been having with an older belt drive Kenmore in another thread. Today, I had time to tinker.

One problem is that water starts leaking when the washer is filled. It doesn't seem to start immediately, the water level gets up to maybe a foot. It appears that it may be leaking from a connection on the side of the tub. This connection is located roughly in the area of the intake valve part of the machine. There is a hose that connects to something that connects to the tub. I notice that the part that connects to the tub feels loose--its possible to twist it back and forth. Should it be tight? I'm guessing yes, but I don't want to try tightening it without knowing for sure--the last thing I need to do is break something! Assuming that it does need tightening, how does one do that? Simply remove the hose, and twist the connector? Or is major disassembly needed?

As always, thanks for any help!
