Well guys, I know I have posted about re-doing my neighbor's kitchen for her.

Down to the appliances today - to the tune of 4,879.78 and all were fine but the damn dishwasher. I was so pissed. The one thing I really wanted to play with. All are Maytag except for the range which is a Jenn Aire, dual fuel. Gas cook top and electric oven.

Anyway, the the dishwaher, a TOL Maytag, not even a click or light responded. I called the dealer a local place here(not big box). They did not know.

Yes I tried all of the obviouse. Not a click, light or a buzz. Anyone have a clue before I take it back tomorrow for an exchange???????????????

Steve

another obvious--

Did you check at the circuit breaker box?

What about checking the latch?

I mean it could be DOA, but I really hope not.

Hi Lawrence:

The door latches just fine and the circuit is fine. I ran other items from it's power source.

It is an 800.00 machine and brand new under warranty, so, I am just going to get another one. I just hate undoing all the leveling and installation I just did yesterday!

My mom's new Maytag...

...appeared DOA as well. It turns out it had stuck itself in Delay Start mode somehow, so doing the Cancel/Drain procedure got things going again.

Just a thought...

Must be a lot of that going around.

I bought a new Whirlpool brand window A/C MIB completely unopened.

The box was actually styrofoam and plastic shrink warp..no way it was opened.

Teh electroic controls only have half the LED diode indicators working..

F that, let them come to ME to fix it. For now it still cools.

roto204 and Toggleswitch:

Tried the cancel/drain. Actually it reads "Start/Cancel". The local Maytag folks are coming over on Friday to take a look. I already know, yes it is under warranty and yes there is something wrong, but.............. You will replace it, not order a part and fix it! No NO NO, the lady bought 4,879.78 worth of Maytag the day we went and picked out, so NO NO NO, I want another one!!! Warranty or not. Now, if it is just a disconnected wire (which I think I would have noticed then ok)

Hey her old one is a belt drive Maytag. It works perfect! Any chances someone wants it. I have two, so what ya think? Also vintage is a Montgomery Wards Double electric oven.

Later and thanks!

Steve

Gray's Maytag here in pensacola will have to solve this one tomorrow. They called me this PM and they will be at the home between 9 and 12 CST. Will let you all know what the deal is. Maybe we can learn from this one. I fooled with it again today. DEAD!

Makes you wonder if the final inspector was in the crapper at that moment and slapped an "OK" sticker on it anyway, or if shippers really do bang them around..

Not a big surprise to me. I found our a few years ago that Maytag is no longer what they used to be. Good thing you are dealing with a local store.

I used to live in an old section (Hyde Park) of Tampa, and had natural gas service there. I also remember it in the older areas of Miami.

Boca Raton, FL turned off their gas to residences a few years back. Apparently metal pipes rust when combined with a high water table, imagine?

...and also demand (or the profit from that level of demand, actually) does not warrant a capital outlay to replace the old rotting pipes, presumably with plastic ones.

Its weird actually in that central heaters were electric but water heaters and dryers were gas, Apparently for 2 weeks a year that home heating is needed. It does not pay to install a gas furnace, either.

Wow!

Never heard of natural gas service being discontinued anywhere!

VERDICT is IN!

Ok all that were interested.

He (the Gray's Maytag Repair Man - whom I know) showed up at 9:30 this AM. He was there only about 10 mins. "The J5 electronic control panel wire was not plugged in" I saw it as soon as he took the door apart. Looked like a knock around $6.50/hr delivery or shipping person's doing to me. Not attributable to poor old Maytag. Plugged the J5 connector on and what a nice machine. Made me wonder what elese might be loose. Seems to run just fine, did a load and it was great!
