Hi, my old GE dishwasher quit working last month and I have had quite a time finding a decent dishwasher to replace it. I first got a tall tub model Whirlpool from Lowes. After a trying it for about a week, I ended up returning it since it seemed to run forever and didn't clean the silverware that good. It ran fairly quiet, but the spray action sounded very weak. My 18 year old GE had a nice powerful sound to it.

Anyways, I came across this Kenmore standard tub model online. It was on sale for only $303.99 and it has the good nylon racks. It was delivered today and I installed it today. So far I'm very inpressed with it! It seems well built and has a large square motor. It reminds me of the dishwashers I grew up with as a kid.

I included a couple pictures of it in case anyone is looking for a good affordable dishwasher.

This is the Whirlpool-based-PowerClean design that's being discontinued. Keep it, it's a treasure. Sorry you didn't have good experience with your Whirlpool endeaor. I have the Kenmore Elite version of that Whirlpool TT and am extremely happy with it.

There is a correction to that....supposedly Sears will continue to have the standard tub power clean. Who knows....

Here is a shot of the inside. I hope it lasts as long as my old GE. I'm new at posting here even though I have been following these forums for years. Its a great informative website!

Jason, that would be great if they did. I'd hate to see this disappear all together. John L was the one who "announced" this a short while back. As you say "Who knows..."

Well that is just awful. They didn't know if Sears was going to continue with the PC or not. All they said was that WPL and MTG would no longer have them.

Hello John,
That is a great looking dishwasher. I am sure that it will last you for years to come.
Can you tell me what is the model number for your new dishwasher?
Thanks.
Happy Easter.
Brent

Hi again,
Brent, the model number is 665.13442K901. Appnut was correct! It would be a shame if they discontinue this model. My local Sears store doesn't have this model on display anymore. I ordered mine online.

I don't know if its my imagination or not, but the plastic tub on this one seems sturdier than the tall tub Whirlpool I had.

It probably isn't your imagination regarding the sturdiness of the tub.

Here is my Whirlpool. It's 5 years old this month. It's a tall tub. It's a DU1055XTP....I don't think it's a power clean but I'm not sure. It does a pretty good job I think

Inside.......I could be wrong....But I don't think this is a PowerClean......Is it? I think it's too quiet to be a PowerClean. LOL

Cycle times, please?

JB, can you tell me how long it takes to run a load in your new Kenmore, including heated dry, if you use it? Thanks.

On the normal cycle including heated dry it takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I'm happy about that part as the other one I had ran for over 2 hours.

Glad to hear

I am happy to hear about the cycle length, that's doable for me. I like the no center post and side mounted silverware basket. A word of warning: be careful with sharp knives, if they poke through the side they will scar the plastic tub. I did that in the first week I had my Ultra Wash. And I was warned from someone at work. You just have to be careful.

I got my Ultra Wash about 8 years ago and it was $400 on sale in those days, so this price is quite good.

I agree

An hour and 15 minutes is very reasonable. I like that it has nylon racks, too.
