See, even the earliest automatic washers were self-cleaning, unlike the HE laundry crap sold today which, when combined with iffy laundry product dosing and cold water washing, need the regular douche and periodic D&C, just like the dishwashers.

Out of 7 wash programs on our 58 Lady, not one of them automatically provided a cold wash. Cool and Cold wash temperatures were manual overrides. Dad's London Fog and mom's Misty Harbour raincoats specified cool wash and rinse water in the washing instructions. They were rarely used settings, although it must be said that the Warm setting was a fairly low temperature warm since the machine offered Medium as the higher temperature warm water setting. Warm was the wash tempertaure recommended for colors, even dark colors, while medium was for non-colorfast cottons and whilte Wash and Wear.

What was the difference between the L-6, the LB-6, and the LB-6M models?

What was the difference between the LB and L model? Never knew the rigid mount, like in the laundromats, was evere offered for the home laundry, only though it was for commercial environments.

SO this P.O.D. is from 1953?

I'd like to try and nail down the year of my RC-4 (coin-op) version. I thought it was early 60's, but it sounds like it may be 50's? Does anyone have ideas?

And Bob, Bill up in Oakland, Ca has a home (not coin-op) version of this bolt down RL-washer, so yes they do exist (to my surprise too).

Heehee! It is so cool that I actually have a machine featured in the POD!!
Kevin, I am pretty sure that your coin-op really is a 60's model. I thought the RL-1 was a much earlier model than '53, though. This, like the commercial machine, is a bolt-down, IIRC.
