That 'Powerfoam' feature

is already marketed in Asia. It reminds me of the 'Hausen Bubbles' washers.

Interesting that that particular manufacturer is PURPOSELY generating foam/suds. Foam in a front-loader simply cushions the articles of clothing and PREVENTS good results. Rather than CORRECT the misguided consumer, this company is fostering bad habits, being excessive foam. And trying to use it as a sales tool.

Believe it or not, BOTH genders can be rid of defective thinking if they WANT to be. .............

Just Like Wash-Motion

mrb627's profile picture
I think the wash motion is a gimmick to promote cold water washing. Let's just make the machine more agressive to clean better in cold water, meanwhile, we will shorten the life of clothes and the machine at the same time. Win-Win, YEAH!

Idiots.

What a gimmick!

samsungfl's profile picture
I do think its beggining to get silly how manufacturers keeping adding silly features like this to their machines just so they can sell them!

Also its the people who buy these machine I feel sorry for, as to the average consumer, to look at, these machines look great with all the functionality you could ever want, however the average consumer dosnt, and wouldnt realise whats underneath is a machine where the basic engineering hasnt been thought through properly, let alone all the new functions.

For example the Ball Bearing Imbalance System, a good idea, on paper but again its something that isnt needed if the machine had a well built suspension to begin with, my Miele for example will and has on occasion spun the majority of towel loads on one side of the drum without jumping around the kitchen and vibrating too much, I know Samsung and Miele are too very different brands however it just goes to show the difference.

Maybe if manufacurers started to focus more on the engineering side of machines, rather than all its new functions we'd see an improvement on the longevity of machines!

Rich

Adding suds to improve cleaning? Hmmmmmm

Don't they realize tests will be done on their machines to see how well they clean and this would cause it to get poor ratings, thus low sales? Not that I follow what CS says but a LOT of people do.

Foam generation

My Panasonic NA-16VX1 generates foam in the following manner:

On pressing the start button, the machine weighs the load by means of a five second slow spin, then stops. The drum then tumbles to a distribute speed; the detergent is flushed into the tub and the speed of the drum increases a little more, generating the foam as the detergent mixes with the water. This foam generation carries on for one minute, then normal tumbling resumes. The foam subsides to become almost invisible.

The downside to this weighing of the clothes by spinning, is that you cannot guarantee that detergent dosed via a wash-ball is not spun out of the drum before the water is added - (maybe the ball should be placed in the 'heart of the load').

Panasonic's user manual states that detergents should be dosed via the drawer, but liquid detergents just seems to run straight into the tub. Powders stay put, but there is usually a residue of undissolved powder in the mainwash compartment of the drawer. There seems to be an insufficient number of water-jets and a miserly amount of water flowing through that compartment for it to be self-cleaning. Ho hum.

Anyway, that Hauzen advert has a very catchy tune :-)

Panasonic

doesn't pump while 'weights' the load so liquids would not be pumped away!

Very interesting wash cycle!
I like the fast tumble.
I wonder why we don't have Panasonic washers here in the USA?
Thanks for the video.

Adding suds to improve cleaning

What a novel idea to hide the fact there is only 2 cups of what in the machine, and make it look really good doing absoultely nothing new.

Good idea for soak cycle, done several times for 30 Min's before adding water to the wash tub, otherwise just a spin off of WhirlMore Catalyst wash system back in the early 2000's.

Peter,

the machine is across the pond and we may see it in a year or two. I just want to know if it goes into a suds lock, will it dump the fabric softener in the first rinse like the Lux's?

What is old is new again. This machine is like the Magic Minute on the Kelvnators in the 50's. The theroy was to use the first concentrated detergent to start on staine and dirt. Also Whirlpool had the Catalyst system.

Great Panasonic Washer

Hi Alexander.

Just to say I love the video of your Panasonic washer. Would love to see more videos on it.

Does it cope well with an unbalanced load.

Regards

Paul

Bosch Maxx 5

My Bosch maxx 5 has started to show err3. It does not happen all the time.

The other day I put the machine on an extra rinse, as it has a deep rinse, the machine started beeping and showing err3. I turned the machine off, and turned it to rinse again, and it worked ok.

Any ideas.

Paul
