Well....I thought long and hard and bought this Hotpoint Aqualtis in the May Day sale a couple of weeks back. It's the top of the range offering from hotpoint, and includes a steam function too. 9KG capacity, 1600rpm spin, A+ energy performance, and as needed it really is silent - when washing you genuinely wouldnt know its running, when spinning its pretty much the same; just the pump is auidable (although that cycles on and off throghout the spin cycle)

I am pretty pleased with it, washes and spins fantastically well.

The main 60*c cotton cycle, with steam, is displayed as being 3hrs and 23 minutes long, so I only use this over night really.

When it starts, the machine fills whilst continously tumbling clockwise, for approx ten minutes. It does this slowly, and then stops - then the time is adjusted on the screen, often reducing by around 50 minutes (i rarely fill it up!) and it begins to wash normally. The cotton agitation is intense - almost "rough", which I guess contributes to its A+ ratings. Water levels in the rinsing come above the door, and the rinses vary depending on the load size - it did 5 rinses when i had a load of towels in it, but only two when my work shirts were in it.

Steam can be added during wash cycles, or as a separate 20 minute cycle - i have used both and it is excellent.

The "Eco" cycles wash at the temp of the incoming water, but further increase the agitation to provide the same cleaning performance.

Shout with any questions. I am like a child in a sweet shop at the moment with it!

PS - sold the old one on Ebay for £70

PPS - also bought a Creda Spin Drier too.....

Chris

its touch sensitive - like a mobile phone screen. (save comments for how long that will last until it breaks!!!!)

Its on a wooden floor at the moment -any ideas on how to stabalise it further? Would carpet under it make a difference??

Carpet underneath would be a mistake. If it's possible bolt a sheet of hardboard to the joists under the floor boards and sit the machine on it.

So how long is the Eco cycle ? 3hrs 23 seems a bit excessive but I suppose when you are washing 9kg of laundry its needed.

That is one nice looking washer. I really like the looks of it. I would try putting a 1/2 inch (14 centimeters I think) of plywood under it that is ccrewed to the floor. It looks like from the first picture that you have enought space under the counter for it.

Very niiice.
How are you finding the capacity. I love having a 9kg machine now. I cetainly notice the difference when using my vintage machines.

does the steam work on this one? Is it from the element within the drum?

I'd love to see a pic of the rinse fill if you could?

I know exactly how you feel about being a kid in a sweetshop with it! I'm still stupidly happy since i got my LG at the end of february!

Happy washing

Darren

Nice machine - I've been toying with the idea of an Aqualtis set believe it or not for a few months now, been wanting a larger capacity machine for duvets, big loads of towels etc. The only thing that was concerning me about was the lack of an extra rinse function, but what you said about how it adds extra rinses is interesting - sounds like the same sort of rinse sensor technology as the Moon has?

What are the average cycle times like?

Jon
