Stephen K. is having a wash-in this Sunday at his house in College Park starting at 1 pm. I'm co-hosting and there will be washing in some nice vintage machines, munchies, possible working on a 53 unimatic. Bring something to drink if you wish. Bring some laundry.
The address is 1939 Rugby Ave. College Park, Ga. 30337.
Hope to see you there!

I have family in town this weekend or I would be there for sure.

Have fun, though. We'll make it next time.

Darn it all...
Jeff and I will be at Lumberjack's...
Seems we were there last time Stephen had a wash-in...
Give Stephen our regards and regrets, and a big "hello" to everyone...

George

It seems there are at least two of us that frequent Lumber Jacks. Any others? We could have a mini-wash-in down there!

Wash-in @ Lumberjack's?

Great idea for a "theme weekend"...
"Leather & Laundry", or "Dudes, Duds, & Suds"...
I'm sure Jack & John wouldn't mind if we did their mounds of wash...

Lint Chasers

About a month ago, Peter H and Bob and Darryl replaced the torque spring on my unimatic. My friend here in Augusta thought it was so funny watching Bob and myself running from the washer to the laundry tub checking the drain hose from the rollermatic when it went into the overflow rinse looking for lint.

I toasted our group that evening and named us the 'Lint Chasers.'

The Lint Chasers

The Lint Chasers will be on the way to Atlanta in the morning. The dryer for Stephen is already loaded on the truck. Looking forward to the weekend in Atlanta and seeing everyone. Can't wait for another "Unimatic" to be back in service. There is no machine any finer than a unimatic.

I just joined the club. I'll be at the Wash-In on Sunday. My wife wants to go too. I'd like to meet everybody and to see the 1953 Unimatic. I first saw one (could've been from 1950-55) in the attic of Marvin Adams Appliances in Thomaston, GA in the mid 1960s when I was a young lad. They had several of these machines. I remember flipping the lids and noting the black agitators. They were not colorful like the one in my Aunt's WCI-58 -- hers was grey with a turquoise cap and pink and yellow rings. BTW, Marvin Adams is still in business in Thomaston. I wonder if they have any of the vintage machines? There were several dozen back in the 1960s. I'll probably go down there soon and ask around.

Thank You Stephen

Thank you so much for hosting a great wash-in! My wife Barbara agreed to go only because she loves me, but once we were there she had an incredible time! She's not into the washers; but she enjoyed the wonderful company, the good food and admiring your beautiful home. (I told her the AW club members seemed like a great bunch of folks...I was right.) This was my first wash-in. The AW members were every bit as nice as I imagined they would be. My favorite machines were the '60 Kenmore and the '62 Maytag. I loved watching them in action and cleaning their lint filters.

Again, thanks a million!

Yes! It was a wonderful weekend. Thanks sooooo much Stephen for opening up your house to all of us. I have tons of pictures and will have to post them where everybody can see. Watch for updates once I resize them. For right now I will post one of our latest additions to the club, Larry and Barbara.

Also, how come not pics of the Kenmo between the Queen and the Tag? BTW, Larry & Barbara, I'm thrilled y'all were able to make a 1st washin in such short order!!

I love the house pics! I've never see a TV on the ceiling of a bedroom before - how novel and practical for watching TV in bed. And I love the light fixture in the kitchen. Thanks for sharing.

Great pictures!!! I didn't realize there are basements in some Atlanta houses. How did the Unimatic come out?

Thanks for the pictures.

They're all great. Looks like you guys had a great time. I'm so sorry it turned out that I could not attend. I hope there will be another time.

I know Bob and Darell had a great time.
