You may have to remove plastic end covers (I don't know for sure) but once you can access them, remove the screws holding the control panel down. On cousins of this washer, there is a screw at either end of the control panel on the front side. Simply remove these 2 screws and lift the control panel up and flip it back.
Next, take a big flat blade screwdriver and stick it in the hole that the front of the brass clip fits into. Catch the screwdriver on the end of the clip and push the handle toward the control panel, prying the clip open. The clip will pop out. Remove the other one like the first. Grab the cabinet and pull the top toward you and the whole cabinet comes off. It usually takes me under 3 minutes. Dave |

Per the parts diagram I found @ SearsPartsDirect.com, the console on this model is attached by spring clips, not screws. The clip is #3 on diagram (left side, there's also one on the right side not shown). Slip a thin blade such as a putty knife beneath the edge of the console from the front and press back to release the clip at each side, gently pulling upward on the console at the same time. When both clips are released, the console rotates up and back on hinges at upper rear corners for access to the cabinet clips beneath. [edited] To clarify, the clip does not detach from the console. Depress the clip enough to release it from the machine top so the console can be raised. This post was last edited 05/29/2010 at 14:08 |
