My soap dispenser leaks at the rod for the soap door. With the front panel off, you can see a little drip coming out where the rod goes into the plastic (on the solenoid side). Is this normal?

No. It is a common failure in these machines. I think Larry at Modern Parts had some dispensers, but they were for 240 volt machines. If you can remove your solenoid and transplant it to one of those new ones, you might be in business. You would have to check with a KA expert to see if that can be done. In the meantime, have you tried using a tablet form of detergent placed in the silverware basket? I don't know if it would properly dissolve in the prewash and wash, but given the force of the water spray, compared to new machines, it might work and isn't there something for the rinse cycle at the center of the tablet? You would have to secure it so that it would not be blasted out of the basket.
Thanks for the reply. I thought it might be a problem with the design. I don't have the right solenoid for this dispenser. I am trying to use one of the "T" type solenoids. The size makes it so it doesn't have enough throw down to keep the soap door open. Do you know a part number for the proper solenoid, or, one that would work?
