Well, I caught the spring-cleaning bug... I need to 'rationalize' the space in the garage to accomodate new finds and a new project so I need to free up some floor space. I have a couple of items that I would like to find new homes for and this one of them. It's a late-80s Maytag reverse-rack dishwasher. I cannot find a model number anywhere on the frame or trim - sorry! It is a belt-drive model, overall in fair to good shape, and kinda working (more on that after the photos).
Here's a bit of my history with the machine - it was in the kitchen of the house in Ogden when we bought it in 2007. The machine never really seemed to work all that well when I used it. I took the pump apart and cleaned out all kinds of nasty black goo and plastic wrap. It still didn't clean that well. I did a couple of de-scaling operations on it and it started to do a decent job again, then the water inlet hose popped. The dishwasher had been built in before the tile floor went down, so I couldn't get the darned thing out to change the hose. I gave up and used the 58 Mobile Maid instead. The diswasher was removed in January 2009, when the kitchen went back to 1956.
Here's a few pictures of the 'Tag...

Timer and motor - they still work, but...

So, it 'kinda' works...

I tried to test the dishwasher yesterday... I poured in a bucket of hot water, and tried the 'rinse and hold' button. Nothing happened. I then got the bright idea to advance the timer post with a screwdriver - I got the pump running, it circulated water, and then drained. I then hooked it up to a water supply and tried again. I hit the 'rinse and hold' button again - the timer cycled through wash, drain, rinse and dry in about 30 seconds... I think I may have messed something up with the timer BUT I am sure someone here would know how to fix it!
I would prefer to give the whole unit away, but if there is no interest, I will part the machine out to anyone who may need things like racks, drying system blower, pump, motor, etc.
The dishwasher is at the house in Ogden (just minutes from Vermont). Just let me know if anyone is interested!

Is that a KitchenAid double-door detergent dispenser sitting inside that Maytag door liner?

It does look very KitchenAid, doesn't it?? I do believe this is original to the machine, though.

I had a '91 Maytag reverse rack and it had the same detergent dispenser as shown in the pics above.

Hey! Paul:

I had a DU-502 Model Maytag Dishwasher, with the Reversed Loading Racks. When I bought my Dishwasher, it was a Display Model, but it hadn't really had very much use of opening and closing of the Door, or even any other things that might break-down.

I did much later on, have the Timer get Stuck to where it wouldn't turn-off, on the Rinse & Hold Cycle, so when I had decided to sell the Dishwasher, I bought a new Timer and Installed it, before making the Sale.

It didn't have the Rinse Agent Dispenser, so I bought that and Installed it myself. It already had the opening with a Plug Cover. The Dispenser came with the Instructions on how to Wire the Electrical Connections. I really liked that Dishwasher and sure wish that I still had it now. Mine was a Belt-Drive Model and I never had any problems with the Belt Breaking, it seemed like it was a very well made Belt.

Peace and Kind Regards, Steve

If only I was closer!!!

I'd take it in a nanosecond, but.....plus, the whole "not having room" thing.

I hope someone will save this wonderful machine.
