Yayyyy! First a big thanks to everyone who helped point me in the right direction on how to fix my detergent door. Turns out, all it was was a spring had come off that holds the lever controlled by the timer. After a couple of attempts I finally found where it's supposed to be attached. I closed the door and turned the timer knob and presto! It works! I tried it a few times to make sure it would hold and so far so good. This is my first ever, home appliance repair. I know it's not as complicated or as major as some repairs you all have done, but I did it by myself and am very proud of myself lol. Thanks again to those who helped!

LOL hey I'm always up for a challenge. I figure if I can work on a car, then a washing machine shouldn't be too different. At least I hope. If this site had been around in 1999 and if I had better internet back then, I probably could have fixed my Mom's old Whirlpool she had since 1976. I loved that machine but it was worn out. The hot water continued to flow, I had to turn the faucet off after it started agitating. The agitation and spin were slower than they used to be and it didn't fill as high on the HIGH level as it used to. After we got the new washer, I noticed oil seeping into the tub from the bottom of the Surgilator. But what made us put it out of service to begin with, was when you pulled the knob to start it, all it did was hum. Even with all that wrong, had this site been around back then, I'd have fixed it anyway. And the same with my Grandma's 1971 Lady Kenmore. I miss those machines.

And think of the money you saved doing it yourself. Rather satisfying, isn't it? |
